Hey I am fairly new to the DE profession I mastered it three days ago. I am wondering what do socket clusters do? Do they allow you to put more modules in a droid? Thanks for any help.

some droids either require an optional socket cluster instead of socket modules.
there are two types of socket clusters:
combat socket cluster, which will hold any 3 modules
and
general socket clusters, which will hold only 3 non-combat modules
an example, an advanced binary lift loader requires an optional general socket cluster, where you could put a level 6 item storage, a food and chemical crafting station module, and a level 6 medical module.
where as an Adv R3 requires 2 optional combat socket clusters, which you could put in one 3 auto-repair, and in the other put 2 auto-repair and one combat module OR put 3 harvest modules in each socket cluster and make a harvesting droid.
Those are some of the popular combinations of those droids on my server, and there are literally countless combinations of socket clusters that you can make, but just remember, general socket cluster can't hold combat modules, and combat socket clusters can hold any module.
