Can someone tell me what a protocal droid actually is good for, i mean he obviously translates, but does he allow you to talk to Npc's that you otherwise wouldnt be able to (ewoks, jawas, etc.). If all it does is translate for player to player it seems like a waste since languages are easy to learn and everybodylearns them right away. Protocal Droids wouldnt be worth the resources they cost to make. They would still look cool but im hoping for more (like getting missions from ewoks).

We dont have any protocal droids on Bria because we havnt had and Ditanium Steel yet so i was hoping someone from another server might be able to answer this one.

They do enhance the starwars look of the game but i think they would be even more starwarsesque if they opened up missions with aliens that you normally couldnt talk to. This would be a big boost for droid engineers as everyone would want a droid insted of a sludgepanther. Maybe its not in the game right now but its somthing that should be added. Hopefully by the time Bria gets Ditanium (Probably Next Year).

More Droids Less Pets (unless you can ride em)

I think that's a great idea... having protocol droids--and only protocol droids--be able to help you"establish relations" withEwoks, Dantaris, Jawas, etc.

There could bea number of different purposes for establishing relations:

*Perhaps it could be part of specific quests where you're looking to get specific information from anNPCspecies whom you can't learn the language of, like you say. Information could be a mission, a waypoint, adatadisc, etc.

*Perhaps you're hoping to establish peaceful relations with a species that you have bad faction with, or that is inherently aggro and distrustful of outsiders, so that you can pass unharmed through their camps and villages.

* Perhaps you're hoping to establish analliance with them so that they will defend you in battle, and perhaps even provide you witha small band of warriors that you would be able to command (again, through your protocol droid) in a similar manneras faction pets. Or maybe they could provide you with special weapons.

* Perhaps you're hoping to establish trade relations with a species that has exclusive control over a certain resource or item... something that can't be harvested or crafted,or thatis extremely rare.

This process of establishing relations in all these scenarios could involve following a different protocol for every species, which only a protocol droid could reveal to you. Perhaps some speciesrequire that you bring them certain items in an offering of piece... water, meat, hide, bone... or maybe even proof that you've killed a certain number of their enemies! Others may require that you not equip any weapons in their presence... orperhaps something peculiar as notequipping any hats in their presence... or that you have to kneel when you're talking to them, etc.

they're like nice furniture... binary load lifters are the same and better... all your neighbors will envy you if you have a binary patrolling your house!
