Thread: Droid & droid component experimentation

Ok. I've read that experimentation really doesn't affect much in the construction of a droid. I assumed they meant in the final assembly. Surely the modules rely heavily on experimentation for final quality don't they? Is this true for all types of modules? How about sub-components such as memory modules and manipulator arms and such?

Along the same lines, once you have made high-quality modules (and components? - again, assuming it matters), does it matter what kind of resources you use in the final assembly? This is of course with the obvous exception of a combat type droid where HAM can be improved.

I've only noticed that experimenting on components for mechanism quality (haven't had the care to narrow it down to which since the benefits are negligible) improves HAM and damage of a droid (combat and noncombat... but really really pointless on the noncombat ones). Ispeculate the absolute max you could probably get is a 10% increase on theHAM and damage with amazing successes+ amazing experimentation + 1000s for the relative quality stats.

That's kind of pointless... I just experiment on private crafting stations pretty much since their quality matters.

Bump.

Any additional data on this?

Experimentation makes no difference on anything, except for the HAM and damage.

2 level 4 modules of whatever kind, of whatever quality, will always = max, even if the module quality is crap.

2 level 4 armor modules will *always* = 40% medium, even if the armor is made from crap components.

The *only* advantage I've seen - and this may just be slight random variation, not from experimentation - was when I made a probot with the best materials I could find, and experimented all components, sub components etc, until I got a max "amazing success". The result? There was an improvement. It was.. wait for it... 811 ham instead of 810. Oh, and did 51-61 damage instead of 50-60.

Crafting stations seem to get a benefit, or maybe not - we can't see the numbers. I will say that I have just as many crit fails using a low quality one as a high quality one in a droid. When I craft other things, I get the same experimentation results in either quality. My guess? It does nothing.

Fortunately, just like experimentation, most of our droids do nothing, so it is good to see a sense of symmetry.

You're doing something wrong then, all of my new probots have a base of 821 HAM before any experimentation

It may be the quality of the extrusive ore we've had to date - I believe there has been exactly 1 source of it on our server since it started, and all of the ql's are rather low.

Either way, are you getting more than a point or 2 of HAM from experimentation?

What couldI be doing wrong? Best resources I can find, max experimentation on a GOOD private crafting station, re-making each time until I get an amazing success with all 5 points... and on final combine/sub-component combines, I've re-done them until I get a "great" success at the least. I can't think of anything I could do *better* on these. Yes, it took a LOT of time, but I wanted to be sure it was borked.

Is it possible probots have different stats on the newer servers? Either way- even if I got 100 more HAM instead of 1, there would be very little value to experimenting for us, as it stands. We should be able to *at least* double HAM/double damage with good materials and full experimentation. Maybe, even, kick the armor over to 15% Heavy, even.

Every other crafting class gets huge benefits from experimenting, we should be no different. Otherwise, scrap the experimentation points and give us more assembly points/reduced crit fail chance and call it a day.
