Thread: Mechanism Quality Does it matter?
I was wondering if mechanism quality for things like data and item storage or any components actually matters? From the limited testing I've done it doesn't seem to affect the final stats on a droid, nor does it affect the amount a storage module can hold.
Does anyone know for certain if it holds any real meaning in the game at this time?
On storage, medical, data modules it matters. Here is the example to prove it:
Level 4 Medical module:
Before experimentation: Mechanism Quality: -3, Medical rating: 7
After experminatation: Mechanism Quality: 4, Medical rating: 8
Same basic results on the other modules as well -- keep in mind when you are crafting that the module ratings go from -15 to 15 (15 being the max for them, so medical rating 15 is 110, item storage 15 is 10 items, data storage 15 is 150 pieces of data). It's kind of weird, sometimes I'll get a bonus to the module rating at mechanism quality +2, sometimes I have to go higher...once I got an increase to the module rating on a FAILURE for my experimentation.
So, although it's buggy, mechanism quality does effect module ratings as well.
Blah... I have made over a hundred Level 6 Medical Modules and during experimentation have had critical failures and amazing successes. I have yet to have a droid with any of these modules have a Medical Capability Rating of anything other than 110.
Trust me... at least at the higher levels... it doesn't matter at all.
A related question.
The micro sensor suite, required for probots has an optional item(cant remember what it is)
Does this optional item do anything?
No matter what the numbers say, I've never had any module hold 1 slot more or 1 slot less than any other module of the same level. Ever. I can have a complete failure during experimenting or an amazing success with all 5 points, and in the end, while the ratings will be different, the capacity of the final droid will be the same. In other words, yes, there are numbers, and yes, those numbers change, but no, they don't mean anything. It's kind of like the coloring of an advanced chassis - utterly pointless, even though it lets you do it.
