Thread: i want a droid(s) but need info from the experts
i want a droid but not to sure where to find info on what i can get. this is a non-combat droid. i have an alt character that i wanna learn to role play with. he is a "miner" and animal harvester. i would like to store important resources on this thing. i can not afford to lose anything to game mechanics/bugs.
1. i need storage as much as i can get for items. so how much can i get?
2. what are the chances of losing the expensive resources i plan on storing in the droid? how and when are droids attackable and if it "dies" can i get the items stored out? can the droid be "rezzed"? will my stored items go poof...EVER?
3. whats the deal with data modules? do they store/organize waypoints or something? whats the capacity?
4. which droid gives me the most options for storage/data/other?
5. if i wanted to throw in an extra medical module how much storage/data would i loose? would it be better to get just a small special purpose droid for medical to keep things separate?
6. is there a limit to the number of droids a non-engineer can have out at one time? is there a limit to the number a non-engineer can have in my data pad?
7. and finally what the deal with personality chips? do they work? do they take away from thestorage of the droid by using up "slots"?
again i don't know much about them so any info you can provide would help. if this works i will help spread the word that everyone should have a droid.
/salute
Ten items per droid, maximum.
2. what are the chances of losing the expensive resources i plan on storing in the droid? how and when are droids attackable and if it "dies" can i get the items stored out? can the droid be "rezzed"? will my stored items go poof...EVER?
I've never personally lost an item from droid storage, and I've kept some items in storage for months.
3. whats the deal with data modules? do they store/organize waypoints or something? whats the capacity?
Capacity: More than you need. Function: Holds manufacturing schematics only.
4. which droid gives me the most options for storage/data/other?
The better astromechs (R2/R3) have the greatest capacity for holding functional modules.
5. if i wanted to throw in an extra medical module how much storage/data would i loose? would it be better to get just a small special purpose droid for medical to keep things separate?
If you purchase a good droid from a good DE, there's no need to sacrifice.
6. is there a limit to the number of droids a non-engineer can have out at one time? is there a limit to the number a non-engineer can have in my data pad?
Engineer or not, same limit: Five in datapad, one active.
7. and finally what the deal with personality chips? do they work? do they take away from the storage of the droid by using up "slots"?
They kinda work... In that responses the droid makes to your instructions are modified. Adding a personality chip is a strictly optional step in talking droids, and they do not affect the other functional modules in any way. Please be aware that some droids won't work correctly with item/data storage modules... I believe the surgicals, in particular, don't allow for it, but I have not tested this myself in some time.
