The exciting part? Artisan the whole way:

Like most items in the game, vehicles will be built by engineers who gain access to specific schematics. The early vehicle schematics will be located within the artisan profession, allowing even relatively "young" characters to build landspeeders, speeder bikes, and swoops. The vehicles can then be purchased by other players in-game. When damaged, a vehicle will begin to spout smoke and even catch fire; players will need to visit a garage and pay a few credits to repair their craft.

Because a vehicle does not slow for anything, even combat, we see vehicles as becoming the standard means for "cruising" around a planet, especially for non-combatants. Players who now spend a great deal of time running or riding between harvesters or houses should be able to check on these structures much more quickly and efficiently. We're hopeful that we can expand the vehicles system over time, adding new vehicles and features.

All 3 vehicles are in the Engineering IV box and the resources needed are

Swoops and speederbikes cost 250 nonferrous + 1000 ferrous.

Landspeeders cost 450 non(I think) and 1200 ferrous.

I admit it, despite all the problems with DE, I'm happy to see vehicles going in. I can't wait until it goes live.

You're missing the key part of that though:

"allowing even relatively "young" characters to build landspeeders, speeder bikes, and swoops"

Artisan has got to be one of the most used professions, and since engineering is the main tree used to get any of the elite professions from artisan, just imagine the amount of people that will build there own.

And you thought selling droids was hard enough..

Hehehe, I don't mean to SELL them! They say those speeders'll be fragile, and I'd rather just pop open a new one than have it repaired!

Good luck selling one, considering thousands of people will be making them.

There will however be a big market for ferrous and non ferrous metals...

Although I'm very happy with this news, you can bet the "Nurf" cries will begin, you can't avoid combat on a mount but you can in a speeder.

Prepare for a nice upgrade and needed option for the non-combatant classes to get crippled due to the PvP element.
