Thread: You Know Its Bad When DEs Are Defecting To Pikeman
A friend of mine who shall remain nameless unless he chooses to out himself, is giving up the MDE ghost soon in favor of a Doc/Pikeman combo. Everyone knows pikeman are gimped almost as bad as chefs (those poor bastards).
You know its bad when people are quitting DE for a gimped profession like pikemen! 
I told him I'd sell him a droideka in February.

It's me 
. I've been a DE since 2 months after release and, quite frankly, I can't take anymore of the "same old, same old" anymore... 2 "big patches" 2 useless "fixes" (Borked coloring, 10 experimentation points, yet nothing to experiment on).
Earlier this month, I dropped all my merchant and rifleman skills to persue Doctor. With MDE, Surveying IV, and Master Doctor, I have 6 skill points left... Not enough to have even novice marksman/brawler... I'm finally getting the enjoyment from playing a Doctor that I haven't had with DE in months... But the DE/Doc combo leads to boredom really quickly (when I can barely solo yard trash, and only when I buff myself.)
So the choice stood before me... Drop Doc or drop DE? Weighing the pro's and con's of each, I decided I can still get my crafting enjoyment from Doctor when I choose it, but I'm not burdened with it,and I'm notborked with no hope until Jan/Feb.
Now, being a military maintenance guy RL, and a DE in-game... I've become a bitter shell of my former self... I decided I have no idea what the hell I'd do if I had nothing to complain about... So Carbineer or Pikeman is all I really had to choose from, combat wise. I've never played a brawler to Elite before, so Pikeman it will be.
Tonight, after making a few last-minute droids for myself, I'll be surrendering DE and taking up arms with our fellow borked profession, the pikeman. To all my Droid Engineer friends - Keep the faith, I'll be checking in on you guys from time to time... Good luck!

Sorry to see you leave DE, Au-ru. Au-ru was one of the doods who helped me to MDE-ness and a great chat buddy on Intrepid. I recall urgen trips to Rori to get crafting stations from him back when I was 0/0/0/4.
Look me up if you need any droids, Au-ru; I'll give ya "professional courtesy".
