Thread: A non-DE is upset about the DE profession
Yet, in this game, droids play a rather useless part.
I'm a Pistoleer/Scout. I will eventually be a Bounty Hunter, but until then not a single credit of mine will go towards droids. I really wanted one, and would ask every DE I saw "What kind of droid is useful for a Scout/Pistoleer?"...My response has been a resounding "none of them".
Looking at these forums, it is sad to me that this profession seems to get so little attention. While CH's are sitting outside the starport of Coronet selling mounts for 50k, you can barely find a DE. Even if you could, what use are they to you?
I don't mean to diss the DE's, it isn't their fault.
Bounty Hunters, one of DE's only reliable customers, are exploiting a bug that allows them to use their droid infinitely...How's that salt on your wounds feel DE? Maybe, if ever DE quits and the BH's can't find any bots for themselves...Maybe then the dev's will start to give a **edit** and fix this profession. It would be sad that they would only respond to the cries of "Bobby Feett", but at least it would get something done.
Myself, I have no problem finding droids. There's a DE in my guild. In fact, it's me on my second account.
Point your frustration at who deserves it. The devs, not the BHs.
There is something you can do about it. When you use the last charge on a seeker and it doesn't poof, you can delete it. Granted it is a bug, and it's not the BH's fault, but you can be truthful and delete the last one after it doesn't go away on its own.

Bounty Hunters aren't maliciously exploiting a bug. There's nothing some of can do about it. For some of us when we use a seeker droid it doesn't use a charge.
I am not so sure its a bug, but a leftover from the non-charge on your droids days.
BH was my first character. I made the DE when they took out the BH NPC vendor terminals, because I couldn't find them anywhere. I was running investigation missions back then, and this is what would happen:
1) investigaton 1, droids blew up or got eaten by critters 35% of the time
2) investigaton 2, droids stopped blowing up
3) investigation 3, seekers were given mutliple uses, sorta like a boomerrang effect for 4 to 5 times before they were "used up".
4) investigation 4, this effect increased.
Since droids now have charges, there is no longer a need for the mutiple use thing that we get now, but I don't think they ever patched that out of the game.

Yep you are missing alot, I sell those suckers all the time.
I have a BH Buddy and he loves the fact that I can grind on the seekers and he can track his bounties all over the planet. The BH will usually use 5 for one bounty (to track the position) and I get at least 400xp per seeker droids. The easiest grind in town. Now add extrusive ore to the mix and viola you get 500xp and a big seller in the BH community.
Now with the Jedi bounties get ready for real economy.

Wow... I'm a master DE and have never once built an arakyd or a seeker droid for a customer. Can't stand the suckers (and they burn up way too many EM and GP modules for their worth.) Wonder if I'm missing anything.
You are missing out on money, money you can use to upgrade equipment or pay for your vendors. I sold over 200K of these droids this week alone. You are not going to have a huge profit margin, but there is money there if you are willing to invest the time to make them. Think about it. They are consumable. They have a large demand for them (probably 1/5 of the combat classes out there are BHs and need these to progress to master). I sell seekers for 1K ea, and arakyds for 2K ea, and not a lot of anything else, yet I have well over 1.3 mil banked, as an unguilded DE.
I wasn't blaming Bounty Hunters, I was blaming the Dev's for neglecting DE's. The bug is just insult to injury. If you understand anything about Adam Smith's economy theories, then it is expected that people will exploit when they gain from it. Weird connection, I know, but that's the way of man. Not that I think it is okay to exploit this bug, and it certainly isn't unavoidable. Boba Fett doesn't have a blaster at your head telling you "If you don't use that droid more than six times, your bantha food". Come on, get defensive about Bounty Hunters if you want, but have a good defense when you do so.
But the main thing is that yes, the devs are not paying enough attention to 1/32nth of their professions. 1/33rd with politician, right? The devs are to blame, it is their responsibility to fix their product. I am new to SWG, but I can definitely say that there isn't a more handicapped profession in this game. I mean I've used Image Designers more than DE's.
