Thread: Socket Clusters vs R-Series Droids

I am relatively new to the DE profession, and have seen references to this but nothing concise...

It would appear that General Socket Clusters will not go into R2, R3, and R4 droids. They call for only Combat Capable Clusters/Modules. I created a General Socket Cluster to test what I had read was possible before (that they would go anywhere) but when making an R3 advanced deed the General Cluster would no go into any slot.

This would imply that modules such as crafting stations, entertainer effects, storage, etc are not no longer an option for the R-Series droids. I have an R3 with the identical modules I tried to install, so at one point at least it was an option.

Does this mean now that the R-Series of droids is now limited to combat only, or am I doing something wrong?

Hi, I had the same question when I started out so don't panic.

All Droid Modules can go in a Combat Cluster, hence and Dvanced R3 Droid can take 6 of any droid modules (6 harvesting, 6 detonation, medical, storage etc etc).

The n ame is very misleading, it doesn't mean combat modules only.

Check out the stickied FAQ's at the top of the forum for other info about which modules work with which chassis etc.

Hope that helps

Combat capable clusters take any and all modules, theyre just restricted to combat capable droids.

On a side note, it would make sense if a combat capable cluster slot in a combat capable droid could accept a general cluster, but thats another story.

The funny part is that combat droids are almost(if not completely) the only droids that take clusters.

So why is there 2 types of clusters? I would understand if you could choose between Combat and regular Clusters.

The Binary Loader and Surgical Droid accepts General Clusters.

Yes it is confusing and ver annoying at first. I accidentally made a factory run of storage units general clusters thinking they would fit into an Advanced R2 unit.

Thankfully it was a small factory run.

Yeah, but how often do you make BLL's on a large scale?

And due to storage+naming bug with surgicals they are less requested.

AH gotcha I appreciate the info! It would appear then that I was infact doing something wrong! lol This will make droid sales much more viable as I'll actually be able to make what the customer is requesting. Thank you very much for all the info... and for not making me feel stupid about it lol

It undoubtably is like that because of the fix for the cluster in the cluster in the cluster bug.
