Thread: Droid Handler elite-elite profession idea!

Basically it goes like this . . . first things first combat droids with some viability needed. Nuff said.

From there you give DE the ability to control3 of the things and there you go. No need to have super uber combat droids if you get 3 of them and everyone else gets 1.

Now for the "Droid Handler" elite-elite profession. Give them the ability to make droids that cooperate with each other, basically a droid commander that gives orders to other droids. You can control up to 3 droid commanders and droid commanders can control up to 3 droids, giving a "DH" 9 droids to use as combat droids or whatever. You get the idea. No need for this to be a long post. Ideas and comments welcomed.

Droid Handler is bad mmmkay...

I don't think we should create a class just to make droids a viable option in the game. Fix the class, don't make a new one to make the old one useful. I'd hate to have to master artisan, master DE, and master Droid Handler just to enjoy being a droid user/maker

Heres whats wrong with that idea, we are dependent on 1 class for 75% of our sales. Sure we can sell 1 droid to a person. But the elite-elites will want 9, so they will make up the bulk of out sales.

Or look at it the other way. CHscan handle multiple creatures, but they go out and find and tame them all. Meanwhile, DHs will HAVE to buy our droids. They have no other option. So if we say "Commander droid... Hmmm thats gonna run you 100k credits" even though we probably mass produce them in factory for a total cost of 1200 credits. If the DH refuses to pay?? Guess what, he cant play his class, or has to suffer an even worse fate, try to level up a DE.

Making one class totally dependent on another is wrong, and not the way to go.

No. Droid. Handlers.

Controling and managing a droid is not equivelent to a Creature Handler. Anyone can own a droid, why would you need special training to have multiples? However, I do really like the 'droid commander' idea to enable you to control more (combat) droids.

No droid handlers. No band-aid fixes to their broken classes. No screwing Droid Engineers simply because they dropped the ball with Creature Handlers and Creature Pets.

agreed no DH, it doesnt take a degree to tell a droid what to do. DH is a stupid idea. Fix our droids, let us color them, give us more droids so we can make the masses happy, and booya there you have it. Its not that hard. Escpecially when you have the time to fix things on CH, a class that really is ok right now. No offense CH's cuz i like pets too but i think they need to fix something that needs to be fixed seriously.

Really a Droid Handler profession should be a separate elite profession completely. Not only that but they should be able to reprogram droids out in the field in addition to being able to buy droids from DEs. And of course let's not forget to make the droids, reprogrammed from the wild, much better then the kinds that DEs can make. Oh, and things should be changed so that a DE, and any other non-droid handler profession, should NOT be able to use any of the really good droids from the wild or whichever new droids DEs will be able to make in the future. Oh, one more...all nonDH (droid handlers) will NOT be able to program any droid...requiring a DH to program them in order for them to be useful for anything.

How does that sound? Does that remind you of any other profession?

NOTE: I was being very sarcastic above. Though my main character is BE I have recently started a DE and would NEVER really wish that anyone would have to go through what BEs have to go through.

My preference would be for a new group of skills be introduced. Rather then have to require people to get an entirely new profession to get skills to use special droids (or simply more then one droid) then they can just spend skill points in a group of misc skills. All skills in this group would be very generic and, relatively to other skills in profession, expensive. Such skills would be something like one that allows you to use a second droid at one time. Another would allow you to use one the more advanced combat droids (that they will someday add to the list of DE droids). And of course...DEs should get a number of these special droid skills by default (meaning they do not have to pay for them).

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bio-Engineering is still THE most broken profession. Yes, that's right. Even with the first fixes for bio-engineering half of skills produce products that are worse then what can be found in the wild. For the record, DE is not as broke as BE (stuff works it is just that a lot doesn't make sense).
