This is an excellent message: concise, informative, constructive. I hope he reads it amidst his many PM's.

It amazes me that it was not obvious to the devs when they coded the BLL and protocol, nor is it obvious to them now, that these droids are USELESS. Only when you hit master DE can you make a protocol droid with anything in it. C'mon! It's C-3P0, one of the coolest and most entertaining parts of Star Wars!

Didn't _anyone_ think to themselves when reviewing the schematic for the BLL: "Hey, wait a second, all it has room for is armor slots! Why would anyone get one of these things: It can't do anything! Maybe we should change this."

Just though I'd post this on the DE board to facilitate discussion and/or action.

I wanted to make a few brief comments about a couple of things you posted over the weekend that may be helpful in solving and/or clarifying the issues. Feel free to PM if you want more in-depth responses.

"Well, we DO do it with droids. In fact, they use the same code. When people say that, what they mean is "we want more combat droids."

Respectfully, adding combat droids is not really what everyone is asking for, though it would address an aspect of it. What the crux of what people want is for droids to be useful. Two of the DE's most difficult-to-produce products, the protocol droid and BLL, are utterly without usefulness. The ability to power and repair other droids is of little use to DEs, as they cannot do so to their own droids because of the one-droid-out-at-a-time limitation, which is NOT the same as with pets.

I remember the SWG Discussion board being added later than the others, and I agree completely with your assessment. The reason the general board is filled with "DEVS: Read this" posts is because the profession forums are neglected by Devs in general (the Droid Engineer forum has NEVER had a Dev response to a community member post). I think that this could be best addressed by simply announcing that you will not respond to posts in this forum, and direct board moderators to move relevant posts that warrant response to the appropriate forum. CSRs and other Devs could continue to respond to issues in the forum.
