Thread: Probots??? Are they worth buying right now?
I have an offer on the table from a master Droid eng to sell me 4 probots for 40k. they have the 110 med modules + a med crafting station. Medium armor and 40% resists with 820 health. Is this normal? Uber? sucky? Price right?
Much more important then this I'm geting 4 for 2 char to each have 2 so I can store one while it heals itself etc etc. Am I wasteing my time and money? Should I wiat for a week or 2 till teh devs fix certian issues like experimenting?
Don't tell me to buy them just cause you want to see a droid guy get paid. I'm buying 2 of them reguadless cause I NEED the medic abilitys. My real question is should I gear up fully buying 4-6 of them or should I go low budget and wiat for the "good stuff"?
Is advanced probot better? If so by how much and what special mats do I need to get him to make them???
yea that dudes nuts... just being able to take heat off a guy and not dying off makes the basic probot worth about 15k, same as most non ch pets i seen go for. You'd 2 droids from me in same offer. I don't see why people grind so hard and have such low respect for their effort. Just plain cluelessness on what value is I guess.

Buda no offence but you didn't answer one single question I asked. As far as price goes his price was 15k. I asked him what sortof price I could get if I bought in bulk. He siad 10k each if i baught 4-5+.
My problem is simple is it realy worth spending all that money on 4+ droids? If the devs are going to "fix" DE and suddenly he can make WAY better droids then I'm stuck with 4 sucky ones. get what I mean. Were are things realy headed with Droids / Probots? Are these the best now? Will they be good later?
I'm not here to debate weather DE sux or not. I want REAL info so I can make an informed choice on waht I should buy and how many.
Okay, here's the thing...
Right now, they're better than they were. They are NOT as good as CH pets. They don't do a whole lot of damage, though with the best armor they can take a decent pounding. They don't Perma-die anymore, which makes sense, but they use the pet Vitality system, which is odd. So, owning a single Probot isn't a bad idea. You can still use it with the CH pet, they do add a little damage, and as someone said, you can use them as a last-ditch effort to save you from the enemy's attention.
Second, 10k is a fair enough price per Droid. So is 15k for the model you said you were getting.
However, let's focus on your question. My first thought is, why are you buying four of them? You can only have one out at any time, and they don't Perma-die. I can see if you want to switch them out when one is low on the HAM, sure. Now, regarding better droids coming out....no one knows. That's always the risk of buying something. However, we've been waiting for the better droids for months, so it's a safe bet that they won't be coming out soon. Even if they do, chances are they will come along with a Cert system to restrict the uses of the better droids.
So overall, you're getting a good price, and owning a Probot is a solid deal these days. I don't know if you need four, necessarily, but I wouldn't worry about the better droids coming out.
Well last week I was selling my adv probots w/40% resists med armor and repair kits for 20k, now Im down to about 15k per driod. IMO they are better than my peco peco when it comes down to taking damage, sure they cant dish it out but thats ok for me. On top of that if there is a crafting station as well as a med mod that is very cheap, compared to what I would sell another driod with that kind of setup.
Then it comes down gettingthe 10k, in this game thats not very hard to make in an half-hour to an hour for something that doesnt die permantly. Again thats just my opinion.
Yeah my driods heal in the data pad as well.
Thank you for your replys. Actualy I should have mensioned taht Ekul-nah my mian is a CH so realy what will happen is I'll have 1 big or 2 medium pets that will be "meat shields" while me and the probot sit back fireing away. Odds are the Probtot won't take alot of dmg. However I find it very anoying to have to setup a tent just to heal a few minor wounds. Thus the med module. Plus it will boost the effectiveness of my heals in combat. the other char this will be for is a Combat medic who will NOT have scout but will have a CH pet I provide him thus witha bot he will have 2 pets.
The biggest problem with probots that I see is they can't be healed at all. Pet stims etc don't work. So other than haveing 2 of them and rotateing them I can't think of anything that will work.
Drashk tell you what I have some extra money now on Ekul-nah so let me get 2 for him for 20k. Then I'm going to Yavin to get hides for an armor smith. I'll get REALY good bank from doing that and will buy the other 2 NP. One other thing I'll do it this. I sell ALOT of non ch pets. Cowardly Gurrecks, Forest Slices, Rock Beatles, and Mtn Krevols. I'll start refering ppl you u for probots because frankly a Rock Beatle + a Probot seems like it can do ALOT of dmg. More importantly it can soak up an assload.
So bascialy get ready for about 15+ ppl a week to mesg you asking for Probots.
Let me know when and were I can pick up 2 of those 4. I need to get headed to Yavin asap.
I've only used the probot in combat (made my first adv probot last night before I hit the sack) but I find it awesome for making my life a little easier. Now I do have a pet kaadu(Squeaker) than I only use in combat as desparate backup. (ie the whole nest comes out to play). But I find the probot is great for pulling. One, it typically focuses the mob on him instead of you. This is especially good when you discover the mobs are social. Remember the first time you attacked a kreval?
So use the probot to pull, then send in your pet to get the mobs attention. It should work well.
Go ahead buy 4, my alt on another server has 3, but im thinking I would do better with 4. When I'm out hunting, I rarely wear armor and count on my probots to suck up all the damage. So I am constantly storing one as its damaged and pulling out the next one.
With 3, on average, once i have to pull the 1st one out again for the 2nd time, it is not quite fully healed, usually atthe 80-90% range. If you want to wait for a droid to heal, it regens 5 points every 17 seconds or so, so I sometimes have to wait 5-10 mins for 1st one to be fully healed.
With 4, I would always have a fully healed one at my disposal instead of waiting for one to heal or having to go in to battle with a less than fully healed pet. It also helps if you have 10 item storage on each probot, I tend to stock each one with 7-8 camps sets, and a stimpack or 2. Then when Im ready to store one, i just pull a camp kit out of it, store it, make camp, pull out a new droid, and I'm ready for the next battle.
Just a note on the side topic above. I believe that droid healing in datapad is bugged. Perhaps they are supposed to, and perhaps for some they are, but my probot does not heal in datapad. He stays at exactly the same damage regardless of how long he is in there. I have to take him out and sit in a camp to wait for him to regen.
Neologist, I think I know why your droid does not repair in data-pad. I have 3 probots, all 3 were made during different patches. Only one of them (the middle one as I like to think of it so say its 15 days old or so) does not regen in the data pad. The other 2 regen like crazy, but poor old middle probot refuses to heal unless i have him out.
So i think all droids made between patch X and patch Y for lack of better names, have the no regen bug. This is also the reason that the Item information sheet on the data pad looks different for all 3 of my droids, since all were made durring different patches.
Hey Ekul-nah,
Well, since I'm the DE that offered the deal I think it should be fair that I put in a word or two here. I honestly think that it would be best just to get only the 2 Probots and not 4. Yes it is nice to have 2 for each character, so that you can pull out one, when the other is beat to all heck, after being a hovering mechanical sheild, butthere is something that you might not have known, whichwaschanged when Perma-death was removed, is that --to my knowledge-- Droids don't heal in the datapad like they once did. I'm not 100% sure on this one, since there are so many bugs in this game that change daily, but I believe that you must have the Probot active in order for its HAM bars to regenerate. This takes about the same amount of time it takes an organic pet to accomplish. So, having the 2 Probots is great for effectiveness in the field, but increases the possible down time that can be experienced.
And as to the 'newer' droids coming out. I'm slowly starting to lose confidence in what has been promised. If you have read any of the 'SIN' posts on the DEV tracker, you will note that the mention of droid improvements, compared to the mention of content addition and creature mounts, has taken a major back burner and barely even recieves an honorable mention.

My probot's Health bar was probably less than half before I stored it in my datapad, and upon removal later (maybe even the next day...don't remember but it had been awhile), all red was restored.
