Thread: Droid Animation/sound/module Issues and Wishlist
Following the recent "DE Update" from Sintrosi, one thing that really cought my eye was the mentioning of DE's being allowed to make Droids perform certain animations via a command .. similar to pets with tricks. So, with that in mind, I've have compiled a list of all known (to me) animation issues and an animation "wishlist". If I miss anything, or you would like to add to the wishlist, then please reply here. Both sections will be split into the appropriate models.
Green is an animation, red is an animation that doesnt yet exist andblue is a sound issue.
R-Series (R5, R4, R3, R2, R1) Droids
Current Issues
- R-series droids do not properly change between the two movement animations. The two movement animations should be as follows: standing still - two feet, moving (at any speed) three feet. At present, the Droid will only use three feet when it's owner is close and moving at walking speed.
- R-series droids do not displayANY animations while performing "tasks" such as droid repair.
- R-series droids do not display an animation while being powered by another droid.
- R-series droids do not display an animation while be recharged by it's owner (except turning to face the owner)
- R-series droids do not always display the "death" animation upon death. Infact, it appears to have become a rarity.
- R-series static animations are very limited.. literaly just the head turning and occasionly "wobbling" on the spot.
- R-series droids appear to "bleep" constantly with no real relation to the world around them. This becomes an irritant to an owner that requires the droid to be called at long periods of time such as crafters. This just gives players yet another reason NOT to use a droid.
Wishlist
- R-series droids should have a "fire extinguisher" animation. This "module" is seen to be used by R2-D2 during the escape of Cloud City in ESB, as R2 sprays a cloud to assist the escape to the Falcon. This animation would come with some functions and would require the droid to have a "fire extenguisher" module. Using this module would not only acitivate the animation, but would allow the droid to "extinguish" a fire bleed on players/pets/vehicles and also decrease combat abilities during PVP
- R-series droids should have an animation when repairing another droid. The animation should be the "zapper" getting extended and then use it to "zap" the target droid. As seen by current R2 units in certain starports fixing terminals
- R-series droids shoud have an animation when being repaired by another droid.
- R-series droids should have an animation when crossing bodies of water. While the droid is moving along the sea-bed, it should extend the camera-device (like R2 in ESB) that appears above the serfice of the water
- R-series droids should have an animation for "scanning" the horizon. This should come with a new "radar" module. The animation would be a small antenna dish being extended from the head of the droid which then roates 360 degrees (like R2 in ESB). This module will only be able to be used by a player with ranger skills. The module gives the ranger an increase in the ability to scout a region for creatures.
- R-series droids should have an animation for when their storage compartment is used. The animation should be a few of the droid's front pannels opening to give the impression something has been placed inside.
- R-series droids should have an animation for when being painted.
- R-series droids "bleeps" should not constantly play. The droid should only "speak" when spoken too, or in reaction to events around it i.e. while being given a command, a module being used or reacting to a threat.
MSE Mouse Droid
Issues
- The Mouse Droid doesn't appear to have any animation except movement.
- The Mouse Droid constantly makes sounds similar to the R-series
Wishlist
- Correct the sound to only play when the droid is being spoken too, or in reaction to events around it.
WED Treadwell Droid
Issues
- The WED Treadwell only appears to have one "static" animation of its head spinning and occasionaly moving up and down, as well as movement animations. However, during movement its "treadwell" does not apear to actually move
Wishlist
- The Treadwell Droid should have an animation when performing tasks. The animation should be one (or many) of its arms moving to give the droid motion.
- The Treadwell Droid should have a specific "repair" animation when repairing another droid. The animation should be one of its arms "zapping" another droid.
- The Treadwell Droid should have a"sample" animation. This animation would come with a new "sample" module that would allow Artisans to sample for resources without the need of a sample tool. The module would require a sample tool during construction and would require a different module for each type of resource. The animation would the be the arm with the "digger" tool "digging" into the ground.
LE Repair Droid
Issues
- The LE Repair Droid only appears to have one static animation, similar to the Protocol Droid.
- The LE Repair Droid's movement animation goes crazy when its moving quickly ... it sometimes winds up in the droid looking like its been fast-forwarded.
Wishlist
- The LE Repair droid should have an animation to suit all of its functions
- The LE Repair droid should have several static animations. It could move it arms, its legs, swing like a human, roate its head etc etc
Surgical Droid
Issues
- The Surgical droid only has one static animation of it moving it's arm.
- The Surgical droid's movement animation goes crazy when its moving quickly ... it sometimes winds up in the droid looking like its been fast-forwarded.
Wishlist
- The Surgical Droid should have a "healing" animation. When its owner heals another player, the Surgical droid should walk over to the target player and appear to "healing" them by extending its arm and "zap" the healed player.
- The Surgical Droid should have an animation for healing incapped players. The animation would come with a new "incap" module which would allow its owner to tell the droid to heal an incapped player. The droid would then walk over to the incapped player, "zap" them and bring them out of incapacitation. However, by doing this the droid WOULD NOT heal the player .. only un-incap them.
- The Surgical droid should have a "stims" animation that would require a "stims"module. The module would allow stims to be stacked into it similar to a storage compartment. While stims are inside the droid, it would be able to use stims on a patient. The animation would be the same as the "healing" animation.
Protocol Droid
Issues
- The Protocol droid only appears to have one static animation
- The Protocol droid's movement animation goes crazy when its moving quickly ... it sometimes winds up in the droid looking like its been fast-forwarded.
Probot
Issues
- The only animation the probot appears to have is its head rotating occasionaly.
Wishlist
- The probot should occasionaly play the sound heard by the probot during ESB ... it sounded something similar to a voice saying "man in the center.. man in the center" or something. It was unique to that droid and would add to the atmosphere if it was present.
- The probot should have an "attack" animation when its attacking and being attacked. The animation should be of it spinning as its firing, much like when it shoots in ESB. It should also give off an alarm when it comes under attack, as it does in ESB.
- The probot should have a "find" module that allows a Bounty Hunter to locate NPCs and players within a certain radious. The droid can be used by anyone, but this specific module can only be used by a Bounty Hunter.
- The probot should have a "space-travel" version that can only be used by Bounty Hunters. This version only has one use and allows the Bounty Hunter to "launch" the Droid to a city/player city onanother planet. Once "launched" the droid can send back information on all NPCs and Players in that city. The Droid would remain persistnat "in world" for 5 minutes, sending an email to the bounty with the inforamtion once a minute 5 times and then self-destruct. For the players in the city that the probot has been sent too, they would see it's shellfalling out of the sky and slamming into the ground in an explosion. The droid would then appear and just sit in that location throughout the 5 minutes.
- The probot should have an animation of its two antenna retracting and extending as its being used to perform certain tasks.
BLL Binary Load Lifter
Issues
- The BLL only appears to have movement animations. It doesnt appear to have any static animations
Powerdroid
Issues
- The Powerdroid doesn't appear to have any static animations
- The Powerdriod's movement animation goes crazy when its moving quickly ... it sometimes winds up in the droid looking like its been fast-forwarded. Also, the sound from its feet gets annoying when its moving at high speeds.
Wishlist
- The powerdroid needs a "recharging" animation when powering up other droids
