I am not sure where this idea came from, but the devs have suggested it as a likely candidate for Publish 8. TH's description reads: " The covert detector module would allow a droid to detect and disable a covert detector in an area."
I must admit the description makes itsound useless to me. I have never been caught by a covert detector, and would expect that if I were, it would be while traveling and unlikely to occurwhen I had a droid out.
The opposite sense of the same name might have some utility, a droid that would detect coverts who were nearby and flag them for attack. However, that would make being covert useless in most cases and really trash the GCW for players who objected to being constantly killed in PvP.
Personally, I would suggest that the developers abandon any effort spent on this module. It is a waste of their time.

If they cracked up imperial searches to a full-time thing, then I'd see myself using one to avoid being scanned for 'illegal materials'. But so far that hasn't been enough of a problem to warrent buying a droid to protect me.

This just sounds like an amazing griefing tool. Use it to get inside the perimeter of a base to farm the endless NPCs until you're killed or your buffs run out...
^ meant that to sound like I was against such a device.

I made a number of posts on this subjectas farbackas September. My ideas were to have covert detector modules in droids (much like your 2nd point above). The possible problem with that (even though I mentioned safeguards against them) is that it's abusable and possibly used in the wrong hands to grief people.
So, they probably took that idea and turned it into the "disables a covert detector" module; which, in my opinion, goes against the entirereason for themodule to exist:to heatup the GCW across the board.
I've always been a proponent ofone simple rule this game should function under: if you want to be neutral, be neutral. If you're covert, you're potentially playing with fire andIf you're overt; you're in the fire.

As the old addage goes: Build a man a fire and he's warm for the night. Set a man on fire and he's warm for the rest of his life.
