Thread: What is the purpose of the DE profession?

This question came up in another post and believe it is a fair question. What is our purpose? Why are we here?

Dear Mercy,
I too used to wonder about my special purpose while laying in bed at night listening to the half-finished R2 audio unit bleeping in the next room. I finally decided to stop wondering and just live for the moment, and to be honest it really has made my life a lot more enjoyable. Who knows, one day I may need to seek out the Lord Droid Engineer and ask him why, but for the moment I am happy to just exist. One thing I do know is that the "Journey to Reason" will be a long and complicatedtrip, and the answers may not even be the ones that I am looking for.

I wonder how many surgical droids named Marvin would be seen wondering around Coronet with their heads hung low if we had the "Paranoid" droid personality chip

All professions have a purpose. Yet what has been posted by the Devs as of late has me wondering.I started as a DE then went to BE(before the fix that made all BE's filthy rich). But BE was different, why?
Because you had the largest player group whining that their creatures had been nerfed and wanted it fixed. So the fix for BE was born to serve CH.
We as DE now stand at that crossroad(actually we have been waiting months but who is counting).

Unfortunately, I can not spend more time talking about what my plansare with all of the communities in SWG. I wish I could, but, ultimately it's my job to deliver and that's where I spend most of my time; scheduling and driving tasks to completion internally.

I pose the question again what is our purpose, why is this profession in the game? Are we here to help other professions? Are we here to build Monster Droids? We have been told what we can not be. We can not raise another players attributes. We can not disturb the balance of combat. We can not add checkers to the playing field (what ever that is suppose to be).
Now I know what I can not be and want to know something, Im cool with that. I now want to know what I can be?
Im sorry If I bored anyone Im not a talented speaker like TK or Duncje.
This will be my last profession, win lose or draw. As I see it now we are about to lose. If I had it to do over again I would have voted to let the Devs do what they wanted in the first place.
