In keeping with this latest wave of ideas, I thought I'd post my own iteration of an old idea.

Similar to a BH's seeker droid, this disposable survey droid would be utilized by Artisans with the Surveyskill to search for raw materials. Just as the success rate of a BH's seeker droid draws off the skill level of the BH, this droid would have a "range" tied directly to the survey skill of it's user. The range could extend from 100-1000 meters from the artisan's location, depending on his skill.

Of course, you can always have the "survey-seeker droid suffered a serious error and crashed somewhere while surveying" errors just like BH's do. The lower the survey skill, the more frequent the failures of the droid.

When successful, the droid relays the waypoint of the highest concentration to your datapad.
