Thread: What droids to put structure maint mods in?
I tried to envision the user of this type of droid and all i could think to conceptually group with the structure maintenance module would be a lvl 6 Data Storage Module, and a lvl 6 Item storage module. So, into the cluster they went.
Now i have a crate of these clusters that i feel work well with each other.
Only problem is, what else would they work with? Maybe i'm overthinking the use of this droid, but if you're using it for structure maintenance, the droid won't be there for most of the time as it's either going to be in your inventory or out repairing your structures, so having crafting stations, medical modules, stim dispensers, etc... won't really be all that usefull.
So, i opted to throw the cluster on a regular probot chassis and leave it at that. This cut the price down significantly (as my customers will appreciate).
My question to my fellow MDE's is this:
What other uses do you forsee the Structure Maintenance Module being used for? Am i being to narrow minded by throwing it into a cluster of Data and Item storage and only using it in a regular probot chassis? What other uses are you guys using this module under?
Thanks in advance,
Level 3 structure maintenance + item storage in Treadewell or LE
Same + all 4 crafting station in adv R3.
I put them in R5s R4s and Treadwells. Basically any droid that only holds 1 module. Since this droid can be gone for an hour at a time, there is no use in putting other modules in it since they will be unavailable for use while a maint run us happening. These droids seem to sell well at 12k a pop.
Now on to the bad news. I had made 7 structure droids while they were not working. I have had my 1st customer come back and say the module is not showing up in the droid
So today I have to make a few more R4s and R5s for the other customers I told to contact me if the module did not reaapear in the hot fix ![]()
I'll throw some on some DZ70's as well. They seem to have a better notion of a droid zipping around from house to house more-so than most others.
Thanks for the comments
i only make them on request. they are too buggy for me to sell them honestly on a vendor.
you all do realize that if the owner of the droid redeeds one of the structures that the droid is maintaining without first manuallydeleting it from the droid's maintenance list that the droid permanently breaks?

I think the fact that I'm putting Level 3 Structure Maintenance Modules (take about 15 mins to return) in them counteracts that little headache a bit.
Q: Since it is going out to make payment runs, do people at those structures see the droid or is it invisible? Am curious as to whether I will be seeing droids by themselves zipping about making payments, or will they (customers) only see the droid as they call it out and send it on the errands.(not sure if that made sense, but hopefully you know what I mean)
I only put these modules in tredwells since they look the part and have no other uses really. As to the question above, no the Droid is never seen doing it's job. It just disappears and the payments are made instantly but the droid will not be callable until the time expires.

However, I have enough items that I put in Dead Letter (almost never needed, but nice to have stashed nearby) Storage that it would present me no difficulty. Also, I tend to send out the droid on a run as one of the final things I do before logging out. That way I at least have an illusion of a droid working for me while im offline, even if I cant have droids puttering about my house.
The Treadwell I'm using with a level 3 module did this time :
1 structure, 15 minutes 20 seconds
3 structures, 1 hour 50 minutes.
Definitively not 15 minutes per structure.
MSE droids only here. Due to bugginess and prolonged absence, these droids seem to fit the bill. If they get broken because of a redeeded structure, the user is only out the cost of a cheapy droid.
