Does the crafting system allow you to make droids?
Yes, the crafting system is designed to allow players to build droids and droid components including chassis, motivators, sensors, and electronics. Players can build their droids for one of three specific fields: service, technical, or combat. Service droids assist players in every day tasks including serving food and drink, translating, and bearing burdens. Technical droids assist in the construction, repair and maintanence of items, vehicles and structures. Combat droids can be equipped with weapons and programmed to fight for their owner.

This was from a long time back, it was ths summary on the droid engineering profession. My... there is so much terrible information in this. I wasn't aware that my MSE droid could serve food or drink and translate languages. Hmm combat droids? More like combat droid, that is incredibly underpowered and is terribly useless.

The only thing they were close on were the Technical droids. That was the summary I read way back when, and gave me the incentive to become a Droid Engineer. Now look at droids, they're nothing like they were promised, and what can the devs say "We're trying to balance out all professions..." really I don't remember you adding anything special to the Droid Engineering profession, maybe fixing some of the bugs that allowed us to be "playable" and that's about it.

What I'm trying to say is please fix up this profession we need it, Star Wars was all about Droids, not about people taming rancors. Just give is the time of day and we'll become the greatest profession, as it stands we're one of the more unpopular professions.

Thanks,

Yeah, I remeber reading this on the orginal FAQ or something. They made the profession sound so great. I hope it someday is as good as they said it will be.

Sintrosi just posted a 'state of the profession' update here on this forum ("No news is...no news").

It doesn't make anyone very happy, but it's honest and frank. And appreciated.

If you want to know what's currently going with DE, have a good read.

"When Sony and Lucas set out, we said, How can we do this and not make another EQ? We didn't want it to be all about Luke, or combat, or lock our players into a class. So we created a system that would allow players to switch professions during the game, and there would be a lot of gameplay around making that change. If you want to go from architect to scout we've created a system to make that happen."

I'd love to have someone respond to this also, but they probably won't. Instead, they'll likely hide behind that tried and true mantraof MMORPG's "Game Experience May Change During Online Play" or blather on about their Terms of Service.

Funny, because those statements pertain toaspects of the game thatwere never in SWG after it's release or beforewe accepted their Terms of Service, sothose aspects to droids and droid engineeringnever technically "changed during online play";they simply were not there in the first place.

This is more than likely false advertising, something that can't be covered by their Terms of Service.

The MSE is nice and flat, and you can set your beer on it. Some are equipped with a flip-top and a small refridgerator to keep a 10-pack cold. You can't quite fit 12 in there.

Actually... there are "bartender-droids" in-game already.

I've seen a few drink serving R2's so far so the graphics are actually there.

NO GO IMPLEMENT IT!! ... Oh, did I just scream that out loud?

guess I did.

All they did to the DE profession was NERF it. Thanks developers and SOE who are making a whopping $4 million a month on this. It all started with the probot I remember....... every nerf baby cried nerf until they changed the probot. And that marketing scheme is so made up. One (Uno) combat droid....... oh joy..... not even a droideka? If they put in a droideka, I bet they'll nerf it until you can kill it in two shots. My probe droid was killed in one hit. LOL. I must say, I'm rather disappointed in this product and I'm waiting for the next patch to see if I keep my account. The only patch ever done to the DE profession was a nerf patch. But you don't see all the creature handlers, commandos, or bounty hunters complaining......
