Thread: Suggestion for resolving the high level modules in low level droids issue

There are many complaints that it isn't right to put high level modules in the lower level Droids, like MSE or R5.

I have a quick solution to suggest - Droids can only use modules available at the same or lower skill level (across all trees) as the droid.

For example, at the Novice Droid Engineer box, the MSE droid is available, and the Level 1 Modules are available. This would mean that the Level 1 Modules can be used in the MSE. At Intermediate Blueprints, there are more droids avaiable to make, like the Treadwell and R5. Those could hold the Level 1 Modules from Novice DE or the mdoules available in the other Intermediate trees. This would put the Level 6 Modules as only being available to put into the droids available at Master.

What are the opinions on this? Good idea or crazy?

Sounds like a good idea to me.

i would prefer not to put high level modules in lower level droids.

The only exception I would have are the R2-R5 models. They all look similar, and perform the same basic functions. Even though some of them take more resources/components to make. For what reason I have no idea, like I said they all function the same.

With these models it's basically the customers preference.

"When Sony and Lucas set out, we said, How can we do this and not make another EQ? We didn't want it to be all about Luke, or combat, or lock our players into a class. So we created a system that would allow players to switch professions during the game, and there would be a lot of gameplay around making that change. If you want to go from architect to scout we've created a system to make that happen."

Good luck getting a 110 MCR and still having 2 slots left on a advanced surgical droid....

A little over simplified. You could only get a Medical V module into an Advanced Surgical Droid, which is obviously a problem.

I think it would be better to cap module abilities across droids simply based upon the droid type. As an example:

MSE: Only level I Data, Storage, Medical, and Armor. No crafting or Repair modules.
Advanced MSE: Level II Data, Level I Storage, Medical, Armor. No Crafting or Repair.
R5: Level II Data, Storage, Medical, and Armor. Crafting. No repair.
Advanced R5: Level III Data, Storage, Medical, and Armor. Crafting and Repair.
etc.

In addition to avoiding the problems of Advanced Surgical Droids not able to use Medical VI modules you'll also avoid problems like the Advance Probot with a Level V Medical module (which to me seems to be giving a droid designed for combat way too much medical ability).
