Thread: And I thought DE holocroning was a bad thing...
After wandering into the Coronet cantina to find the place packed with AFK dancers, I'm beginning to worry about the Entertainer profession. Our holocroners only bother us with the occasional question. But I think Holo grinding is actually starting to destroy the entertainer profession. Not that I had much hope for it anyway, as sitting in a cantina all day dancing does seem like it'd wear on anyway.But still, their "AFK" to "Alive" ratio is through the roof and the only real ones are being pushed out the door by those AFK grinding.
Scary stuff..... Not really droid related, but scary nonetheless...
It's been that way ever since the holocrons were introduced.
They negatively affect every single profession. Crafters close up shop. Combat players stop buying guns (to AFK macro entertainer). Droid sales drop because you don't need a droid to grind.
The whole economy has been affected by the holocrons. Anyone who doesn't see that has a very narrow vision of the word economy.
I think the holocron frenzy is very beneficial to real DE's as well.
Holocron medics and doctors need medical droids. Holocron bounty hunters need their consumables.Any holocron artisan-type crafter may want a droid crafting station. And any fighter profession holoers will be in the market for droid item storage to protect their valuables from decay (for as long as this lasts, at least).
I don't watch the entertainer professions forums, but I'm sure it isn't pretty. I've noticed an uptick in available goods throughout my galaxy recently, and I can't help but wonder if it is indeed because of holo madness. The holocrons have created a great demand for certain services and products, and it looks to me like those demands are being met, and least in terms of products. One noticable exception I've found is that it's become nearly impossible to find a Master Smuggler for slicing these days.
Older servers may be able to regulate these new demand-supply equations, but newer servers may have serious economic inequalities in the holocron era.
Your forgetting the holo DE that flood the market in an attempt to recoup the cost of steel and fiberplast.

What are they flooding the market with? I haven't noticed any decrease in sales as a result of the holocron madness. Higher level droids take time, and time is the enemy of the holocron chaser. I just can't imagine a holo DE investing the time to build high quality probots or surgicals, i.e. setting up factories, getting all the required materials, etc.
Perhaps they build MSE's with low-level med units, but those would compete with other novice DE offerings on the galactic bazaar. They would not fetch a terribly high price, possibly enough to run harvesters. But that wouldn't significantly effect a "real" DE whose long term goals would be to create high-end droids that garner higher margins.
I am curious if there are specfic known examples of holo DE marketflooding in any of the galaxies.
I am getting a huge increase for the bounty droids and it is driving me nuts. I have 2 factories running and I try and make time to make the GP's and MEM's needed for the BH droids. Making a 1000 at a time takes over 2 days, which keeps me from making other things I need.
I haven't seen a decrease in demand at all, but an increase in overall effort to keep up. My normal droids are selling about the same, but the seekers and arakyds could drive me into the nut house.
Oh, btw....I got Master Entertainer as a holo gift. No worries about me grinding dancing in hot pants in the cantina's. This was exactly what I was fearing I would get....so I guess I will be a DE for life on Kauri.

Holo DE's are very likey to never produce a single droid. That practice function and Advanced Droid Frames dont addup to anything.
You're forgetting that most hologrinding medics and crafters don't use droids. They don't need to. They tumble and burn and fix in the med centers. They craft in their PA sponsored halls with crafting stations.
I think for DE the holos are more beneficial than hurting. I think it greatly increases demand. It probably increases demand across the board, what it really does is screw up supply as there are less masters sticking with their profession.
As for not being able to produce BH droids fast enough, increase the price. From other threads it sounds like you undercharge for stuff anyway. You mayloose some business, but you'll make more from what you sell and free up time to make real droids with real profit.
I hate BH droids. I only make enough to keep my guildmates supplied. **edit** GPS/EMMs.

My droid sales have fallen off the chart. I have had VERY few droid sales out side of BH stuff and it comes and goes in spurts.
I was doing a pretty decent trade on droids and in the last few months I've sold less droids than I did when I was grinding up DE. I bet I've got 20 droids on my vendors at prices comparable or less than everywhere I've checked. There are some DE's on my planet that are charging 300% my rates for non master stuff, but they are selling to their guild and townmates so I guess they can charge what they want.
