Well I'm hoping for some serious combat droids myself, but as a BH (my main) I'm hoping more for an IG-88 style droid... Droidekas would be cool though! I'm working my way through DE now on my alt and I'm looking forward to see what changes they make to the trade. DE's should get a LOT of love out of this next publish, that's for sure.

Everytime I say i'd love to have an IG-88 I get yelled at in game by people screaming that they are too powerful but their not. With the recent changes I've seen level10 Kaadu that are 5 times the power of an IG-88. After comparing 3 different spawns on 3 planets I found the stats for all the IG's to be the same. Here is a copy of the stats I posted on Allakhazam.

Health: 2739
Action: 2741
Mind: 2468

Armour Rating: None

Special Protection:
Kinetic: 25%
Energy: 25%
Effectiveness:
Blast: 5%
Restraint: 5%
Heat: 5%
Cold: 5%
Acid: 5%
Vulnerability:
Stun: -
Electricity: -

Aggressive: No
Stalker: Yes
Tameable: No
Deathblows: Yes
Ferocity: 0

I didn't get a chance to examine a Droideka before I had to sacrafice my Hunting skill to Master DE but from what I'm hearing they are nice and strong but not to the point that threaten to undermind the CH, or even a CH with a nice BE'd pet. A lone Droideka, from what my friends in game have experienced,is comparable to the low end of a mid level CH skill pet.

I think people are referring to the stats an IG model assasin droid would have if done accurately from the books. There wasn't much these things couldn't take down.

No argument there. The problem is people seem to be falling into several groups, the original trilogy purists, the EU purists, and the new trilogy purists. SWG doesn't seem to strictly adhere to any one of those and most people I encounter seem to be trying to squeeze the game into one of the above groups. SWG is in itself an aberrant time line to any of the above and what we get in game really needs to be tailored towards what fits in ourversion of the SW Universe.

As a prime example of Dev intent, if the IG-88 were intended to follow the EU then they wouldn't be a semi-common spawn that can be found on all planets. As is, I've blown several IG-88's to little bits and seen a number of others destroyed. If this was part of the EU universe then I would have single handedly wiped out the entire series

I'll be among the first to admit that whatever changes are coming our way, there will be peopleadamantly opposed tothem. I've tried wrapping my mind around possible ways that changes could be implemented but no matter how I look at it I can'tthink of a way that will appease everyone. The Devs are in an unenviable position with this because change is needed, but not everyone will be happy with the direction it takes.

I think they followed the novels based around the era of the origional trilogy more than anything else.

But who cares, provided they add loads of combat droids.. any word on the cert system will be added? I want to make sure I can use the best combat droid.
