The color changing is a "Feature" to try and get you to see your local DE to paint your droid with a droid customization kit. The "Customization Fading" message tells you that your custom painted droid is about to start choosing it's color at random, see answer #1 above. The "Customization has Faded" (notice past tense) tells you that you need to go get it re-painted. When you issue a command and your droid says *low power* that's when you need to feed it a battery or because it's a med droid, you notice that you can't heal in the field away from a camp, feed it a battery and it should start working again.

BTW: The droid customization thing, you don't HAVE to color your droid, as that will not cause it to function any different but it kind of sucks when your R5 comes out puke green and pink when you call him.

"your droids customization has faded away" does this mean it needs a batery

i find i have to recharge it every time i pull it out, it that how it works? if i just leave it out all the time will the batery still go dead
