Okay fellow DE's with Pub 8 around the corner per say, what are your takes on how much to charge for the new droids. Just so everyone can get a feel for what's to come.

My pricing will be data-generated and will come out of the same spreadsheet that I always use. Since it will be data-generated, I cannot post what I'll charge (dont have all the data entered as yet)

However, I dont expect to sell much in the way of droids... There are just not that many folks interested in Pure Utility Astromechs and LE's

/sigh

sssssssssssssSSS(:-<

[edit] gee.. a one star.. I wonder who this one was and why? No guts? hehehe -pall-

Total loss of annual revenue (SOE): ~$715US to ~$900US
- Bad press: Priceless
Should Sony and Lucas Arts be worried? (15000 users * 5 accts = ~$13MIL in potential lost gross annual revenue) If I were the CEO for either LA or SOE, I would certainly be worried.

Depending on how "Donald Trump" I am feeling, I usually charge 10-25 cpu of the resources I use. On Kettemoor the market is already coming back off the 25 cpu rate, so to generate more business I may back off to 15-17 cpu.

I also add a HAM multiplierthat will raise the price for droids that are better quality and drop the price of my lower quality droids.

I take the base cpu rate multiplied by the number of resources used. I then multiply that base number by the HAM multiplier (base*(HAM/1000)). People come to me either because they know my smart arse ways or other marketing ploys, or they know the quality I offer.

This system seems to work for me with buying "under priced" from others and then marking them up on my vendors. This helps me corner the market by making DE vendors around me empty while I seem to always have the droids they all want. I also make a little profit off someone elses craftmanship.

Another way to promote your business is to offer some freebees as prizes for guild events and such. Seems everyone (except hologrinders and pwr gamers who are way to serious to have fun, in my opinion) like their own little buddy to command around. I have people who buy droids all the time who have NO IDEA how to use them, BUT they look cool.

Well, the resource requirements for the new modules don't look that terrible, so I might just go with my standard pricing, which is:

Advanced R2s with five modules for 35k (non-combat)

Advanced R3s with six modules for 40k (non combat)

Protocols with two modules 25K

Combat probots with 5 modules for 50K (combat)

I'm not a DE, so forgive my idiocy about such things. But I was curious, with the new playback module being partially made by entertainers, what do you guys think you will charge for such units? I assume the price will be partially dictated by what entertainers are selling the modules for, but what if the entertainer provided said modules to you for the droids construction?

The reason I ask, is when these new modules come out, I want to buy around 4 R3's, with 5 visual modules, and 1 playback per droid.

Not sure on the entertainment one, but I've lucked out per say & have a muscian friend who said if I get her the materials she'll make them for free for me.

I wonder what the demand for these things will be... If its relatively high, I need to find a DE to work with, so I can get a factory set up to make these modules to supply them, and maybe even pre-record instruments for him on certain ones (gonna be MM soon, already ME, so that means every instrument possible).

I generally charge 2000 for a Level 4 module or armor, and 5000 for a level 6 module, a combat module, or level 6 armor. If a customer wants a droid such that I can double level 4 modules, I'll do that instead for them and save them some credits. These module prices are then added to a base chassis price.

The new modules will probably go in as 5k each until business stabilizes, and then some should go down in price since they're fairly easy to make.

[this is on Scylla, where prices are generally very low]

Man, some of you guys get way to complicated on these droid prices. The way I do it is on how much profit potential that droid can have for the customer. Like All combat droids (except R3 Adv) I charge 40k, that covers all my resources, the maintenance on my factories and harvestors, and the time I put into each droid since unlike a lot of de's I assemble all of my droids by hand and only use factory parts when required. Some of my other prices are: Crafting droids 20k (these are generally simple droids with only crafting mods in them), Medical Droids 30k (this price is for med droids with a 110 rating), R3 Adv droids; Combat 50k, Med 40k. Now any combination of the above will of course garnish a higher wage.

I also try to keep pricing as simple as possible. If an item sells well I increase the price. If it stays on my vendors forever the price goes down. Over the last 9 months or so I have found the right prices for pretty much each droid. No need to change the approach now.

Once you played this profession long enough all the spread-sheets you'll ever need are hardcoded into your brain :-)
