Having two in the same droid is an issue, no matter how you arrange them.
And for future reference, a socket cluster is not supposed to fit in a standard "module harness" slot. If there's one bug I wish they'd fix right now, that's the one. An Advanced DZ70 should hold two modules, period. Most droids starting with the base R2 have a slot specifically designated for a socket cluster.
I'm assuming you just didn't know that. It totally screws up the advancement curve of the profession if any droid chassis can hold any number of modules. The only thing that makes higher-level droids better than lower-level ones is that high-end droids can (aside from this bug) hold more modules.

I did in fact explicitly test this yesterday (11/19/03). I built a droid with 3 different crafting stations, and verified that I could"see" just one of them.
This is too bad... Given how few features droids have to offer, it would be nice if I could make a "multi-crafter" droid for people. Now anyone who wants all four stations mobile needs four different droids.
<sigh>

Like I said, this isn't really a droid bug. I believe the problem is that when you start crafting the server looks for the closest crafting station/module to you and assumes that is what you are using. Since the two modules are the same distance away (being in the same droid) it just chooses the 'first' one (or possibly the 'last' one). It is semi-random, meaning I don't know of hand how it determines which crafting station/module it will use but it will always use the same one.
Yeah, it will be nice when they fix this but since it isn't a game breaker it will probably be a while. The good thing is that when they do all those droids with multiple stations will most likely work (instead of some issues where a bug is only fixed on a 'go forward' basis because there is missing data)

Well that answers another thought I had while crafting.... why some blueprints actually said "socket cluster module" and others just said module. And it makes sense. I has also wondered why you could put a total of 6 modules in an MSE adv droid and what the point (other than looks) of the other advanced droids was.
As for the range issue.... I think that may be right as the problem. I have noticed (with some ire) that sometimes in my house I can pull out a general craft droid and try to make the MA parts for droids..... and not get an experiment stage. I was thinking it was just because I was too far from my droid, but in reality I was too close to a structure crafting station in my house.
Guess the treadwell droid I built with all the craft modules is going into the dumpster. *sigh* Back to the datapad I guess.
ps. I know I must have gotten at least some of the names of the modules wrong, so don't point that out

Has anyone had any problems from putting a craft module in a socket cluster?
Reason I ask is I had a customer (BE/Tailor) request a droid that had a med module, a storage unit, food/checm crafting and cloth/armor crafting in it. I put the two crafts and one storage in a cluster and the med module I put in direct. This was in a DZ70 adv droid.
They had an old droid that had a cloth crafting module in it already and another droid with chem module, but wanted a new droid that had all of them in one.
Now when they go to use the new droid, they claim they cannot see all of the recipes, however they store the new droid and pull out the old one and the recipes are there.
I tried to make the droid as high quality as I could (I think I got quality 12 on all the craft modules)....
This just doesn't sound right to me. I keep hearing that quality doesnt matter, so I am guessing it is not my materials.
Has anyone else seen this?

The problem is not in socket clusters but in the fact that putting multiple crafting modules into a droid causes problems.
This may not be 100% droid related as I think you can achieve the same effect by dropping two differing crafting stations in the exact same spot.

Ah that is very good to know.... and a bummer. Would it have worked if I split the two craft modules into the two slots instead of putting in a cluster? or just having the two in same droid is the issue?
