Thread: What kind of droid invasion has no combat droids??

It is my opinion that a new profession should be a unique, interestingaddition to the game that is not merely a copy or derivative of an existing class. There are already too manyprofessions in SWG that are similar with each other; I did not want to add to that problem. The Droid Commander profession would have needed a lot more development time than I had to spend in the schedule to ensure it was not simply a "metallic CH" profession. Finally, as mentioned before, it is my goal to ensure that all existing professions have their own unique, viable identity in SWG before thinking about adding new professions to the game.
100% with the devs on this one. They should have been going in this direction in the first place, instead of wasting valuable time raising everyone's blood pressure on both sides of the debate.
He admits right out that they really didn't even have time to implement the DC like it needed to be done. Which means to me that they wouldn't have been making it work on the DE side completely right, either. We don't need a new broken profession.
The devs don't take much stock in droids. That is a given now. But the "droid invasion" was ill-concieved to begin with.
We are all tired now anyway. No need arguing it further.
Awww so you wanted to be UBER?
Utility and Bugfixes.....thats far more important to the profession (though maybe not to you) than any half baked Metallic CH profession would ever be.

Utility is a SECONDARY business at best. Combat is the main event. That's why the top armor smiths make 2M to 3M per day and the weapon smiths even more.

If you have a problem with Droid Engineer as it is then drop it like so many have said. Runesaber said they did not want to make another profession with so many in the game as it was...Yet.
I myself would love to see the list of problems Droid Engineers have with making their current droids fixed first before any more droids are even thought of being added. Why is it i can only sell droids to crafters or doctors, and bounty hunters (other then the droids dont work for them). What about smugglers, scouts, rangers, dancers, musicians. Don't they need some UTILITY droid too.
Just my two creds worth...
Unfortunately, I am doing just that, dropping DE.. From the start I always thought it was a cool profession and as "Star Warsy" as you could get.. After playing with various professions while I gathered resources to start some different crafting professions (Armorsmith and DE, namely) I made Master DE 3 weeks ago. I wear my tag and hang out in Theed quite often. Know how many times I've been asked about droids? ZERO times. Not once in three weeks. The only time I even see droids are in Theed with names like "So-and-soSucks" or near mission terminals so the person with the droid can get the same missions with higher pay to still solo. Why on earth would someone pick an unhealable poor damage outputting probot over a decent BE'd non-CH pet with 3-4k HAM and better dmg/spd?
The fact is I won't miss DE because of the stupid 'fixes' we've been given (1 pet ata time, namely). My crafter friends already have 1 or 2 droids with crafting stations so I can't even *GIVE* droids away to my friends.. ![]()
Im pretty new to the whole DE forum, but im getting really annoyed with reading a new thread every day harping on the guys at SOE for making decisions based on what people posted they wanted here. I understand everyone is frustrated with the profession and the current situation in galaxies, as i progress in DE, im starting to get a better understanding of all the issues, but we need to lay off them a little bit.
The rest of you can keep on rockin.
They needed to implement a system of spending skill points, combat experience, and credits and earning certifications for better droids.
The whole Droid Commander idea was retarded.
If they would have done this right, by utilizing droid experimentation and looted components, then the best DE's could make some downright sick combat droids and sell them for quite a bit.
Now we are back to being a 'other' crafter to armorsmiths and weaponsmiths.

For everyone who thinks that they are better than the Devs, go to college, get a degree and take their jobs or start your own MMO game, which im sure will rock so much harder than SWG.
