Great! I'll get to work on it then, and post it tonight.

My main goal in it is for the droids to be "useful" for each profession, yet usable by all for diversity, and not overly powerful on top of all that.

Hope you like the ideas...

You have to realize - while there are splits amoung what DE's see as the "vision" of the DE profession, we are all DE's, and for the most part, the arguments are kept on a non-personal level.

The arguments between DE's get so bitter sounding, I think, because we are all sick in the head and are passionate about droids in this game for some twisted reason...

So, post away

DE Community--

I've been playing SWG since the first week of July (would have at launch, but had no access to my computer, heh heh), and have followed the DE forums on a daily basis since then. I think most of you agree with me in my disappointment the droid-side of things was far from what we had expected after watching the Star Wars films, reading the comics & books, or playing the games.

Last week I started work on a large "droid suggestion" post, doing my homework on already-established droid models & their roles, and how they could best be applied to SWG and yourselves. After a lot of looking around at different resources I picked up a copy of "The Essential Guid to Droids" book, which simplified the research.

I'm about to translate my chicken-sratch handwritten notes into a large, well-formatted post...but though I would make sure that you all would find this useful in some way.

The list breaks down at LEAST one droid per profession for the game, with only 2 droids made up based off of what I'd read throughout my research to make them as close to being Star Wars-proper as I could. It has basic suggestions for what the droid would do for it's owner. The general idea for the droids being they wouldn't be nearly as useful for someone outside of the profession they are listed for (for example, a M-3PO droid being used for the Squad Leader profession, boosting SL abilities (per description they're used for military coordination/communication and acquiring of goods)...and would do little good for, say, a Medic, outside of the basic modules that could be installed in it).

Would this be welcome to you all? I'd like to make sure it is before I take the time to actually write it up nice and neat and post it in here.

Keep in mind I'm not a DE, just a player who still uses a Probe Droid because while it may die fast--droids are the big part of Star Wars I love, not pet wars.

Thanks! I'll check back throughout the day and post it tonight if it's welcome.

Post away, friend -- there are plenty of people here who could appreciate its merits, even if there may be no one among the devs who will.

Good constructive ideas that further the profession are always welcome!

I'm interested in seeing what you've got.

The only problem that I could see with what you propose is this, TH said that they do not want to introduce any droids that give an advantage to any class without some kind of skill point cost associated with it.

In english: We do not want anyone to be different then anyone else so, you either play with our toys our way or you don't get no toys.

Everything about this game is unbalanced. Doctors can heal and no one else can so they are out of balance, Warriors can fight and crafters can't so they are out of balance. SOE needs to get off thier high horse and understand that everything has a place and if they would slowly adjust things instead of smashing the nerf bat over everyones head, they would see the game can have balance once the combat and weapon rebalance is done.

Look at what happened to creatures, Pre-BE fix that is <grins>

Absolutley! We all love droids. It's the devs who seem to have some aversion to them. I think TH was scared by his clear-domed can opener as a child and never got over it!

We don't want ONLY suggestions from our own little community, your ideas would be welcomed, although I cannot promise they'll be loved!

I'm fairly certain that most droid engineers, and I count myself in this group, are customer-centric, and want to make a wide variety of droids for a wide variety of characters.

Taking a well-deserved vacation from his successful Droid Engineering business, Master Rho can be found puttering around the galaxy.
