Thread: Is now the time?
My server has prominent ASs, and WSs but these guys' wares sell and are needed. I would love to MDE and there isn't one that sticks out on my server in my mind- 'cept Eutock but I saw him grinding medic a few weeks back.
Is it a good time to do DE? I mean, combat droids are around the corner. Surely I will NOT be wasting my time mastering a profession that no one needs right?

To be an effective DE, you'll need craploads of Master Artisan parts. If you don't have enough skill points to take up Master Artisan, or have access to MA's for EGPs, EMMs, Control Units, MSSs, this is not the profession you are looking for.

There really aren't any prominent DEs simply due to the fact that Droids aren't necessary the way weapons, armor, etc., are necessary. Once ya buy a droid, there's no need to get another one, as they really don't "wear out"

Combat droids are not "right around the corner". The minimalist combat droids we got with this latest publish is likely all you'll see for a while. CL 13 is all we're getting until the Devs decide the best way to add higher level combat droids (that aren't NPC's) into the game. Right now, nobody needs droids, they are useful to a very small segment of the population, but there is no widespread need. Most of us are here due to our love of Star Wars and droids in general.
