Everyone having one *is* theepitome of imbalance. Like how everyone has composite armor. Like how everyone'sa CM. When you absolutely need one thing to survive and compete, and when there's no real reason to go without or useotheroptions...you've gota textbook case of imbalance.

sundown is pretty much right. Its when someone is required to have one (whether they want it or not) to be able to do anything that you have problems. A master rifleman should not need a droideka beside him to live up to his full potential.

Combat Droids of higher CL would unbalance the game for this reason:

Let's throw in an imaginary example. Let's say someone, a newbie has a droideka, it is CL 50, 11.5K HAM, .36 attack speed, and hits for 390-550 damage. Similar to a CL50 run of the mill Rancor.

A Master Creature Handler earns the right to control a Rancor. If everyone was walking around with this imaginary droid I just rattled off above, everyone would have to have one to be able to fight the other person.

It's very simple. That's the way the game works. You cannot wield a flamethrower unless you are certified under the commando profession. You cannot use a set of vibro knucklers unless you are a Teras Kasi Novice. You cannot use a T21 unless you are a rifleman.

Most things in this game require certifications, and therefore the combined efforts of teamwork in order to fight npcs, creatures, or other players. And I agree with the comp armor, not everyone should have that, but for the most part -- as far as any weapon is concerned -- you have to be certified to wield any high-level weapon. A lvl 50 rancor I personally consider a special type of weapon. I consider a Droideka the same kind of weapon.

I used Creature Handler as the best example, because their profession would be made virtually obselete if high level combat droids were given to just anyone.

IF the devs decide to bring out the higher level droids, you can probably be sure that a.) a profession will be created to handle said droids (or it will be given to the DEs for awhile),and b.)they will tweak and balance it against the MCH profession.
