Thread: Why Do I have to put a targeting computer in a Droid that won't fight

First I apoligize if this has been said befor but I spent about 20mins looking for it so I could post there but could not find anythig on it now on to the complaining:
I just was going to make an R2 for someone with a Crafting Mod and 2 lvl 4 storage mods (don't yet have resouces for lvl 6) I was going to make a normal R2 because this is all my custumer wanted in there droid. So I make a General Mod Cluster for this droid go to put it in and find out I can ONLY put in a Combate Cluster that not only REQUIRES a droid brain but also more resouces then the general. In the Cluster a Droid brain is called a targeting computer why would I want to put a targeting computer OR the extra resouces into a droid that will NEVER fight because it has no Combate mods. Why can't the droid Combate Slot take both the general and combate clusters kinda like and ADV. part vers a Non-ADV part. and still have the Genral only slots for thoughs few droids that can hold clusters but can't fight.

Because the devs screwed us DE's over this patch. Again.
Promises, promises.
I really had high hopes for it, but that was when I thought the combat droid patch was going to be number 8, and utility was going to be patch 7. This is just a clusterfark.

well maybe we can get them to fix it in pub 8 as part of the remake or whatever it is

I sure hope so, there are other things in the game that take different components. Some foods can take additives which come in a few different types, etc.. There's really no reason to limit us like this.

Perhaps, if you look at it from a broader perpective...
"Targeting" an object doesn't necessarily lead to combat. NASA Shuttle pilots target an object before making contact with it... Commercial airline pilots "target" the runway when turning onto final approach.
Every time you fix your eyes on an object, you are essentially 'targeting' it for some purpose. Your brain controls your eyes... you wouldnt want to have your brain removed from your head just because you didnt want to 'target' anything with your eyes, now would you?

I've come to terms with the combat capable socket clusters being required inthe combat capable droids, but I find the resources need to make them to be excessive. I'd be fine with they'd just drop the droid brains from the schematic. With the intro of combat modules, I go through more droid brains than GP modules or EMMs. BEs use minimal resources to create their CL10 (excuse me, CL *13* ) pets. To create the same thing in a droid, I run through piles of good resources. If the devs are going to insists on ballancing droids and pets, then the ballance should be more equitable all the way around. 65K for a fully loaded R3 vs. 10-15K for a CL 10 pet? Which would you choose?

The thing is there are 2 differant types of clusters the "combate" type and the Non-combate type. The ONLY differance in the function of the 2 types is that you can put a Combate Modual in a Combate cluster and you can't in a Non-com. The non-com does not require a brain because all it is is a harness for the verous muduals. the combate one requires a brain so that it can coradinate the targeting comps (brains) in the combate mods. All so in the R2 droid, the one I was making, has its own brain seperate from the Combate mod. the does all the basic "targeting" and that brain is an ADV. Brain. I fact the R3 Has 2 ADV brains in it plus the 2 combate clusters, but 6 in the combate mods that is a total of 10 brains 2 of withc are ADV. brains. All I am saying is that up until the droid envasion I could put a general cluster in an R2 droid and now I HAVE to put in AN ADV. part with NO benifit to get it to work. If medics HAD to put the ADV. stim parts in a stim b JUST to make it with no benifit to having the ADV part in it they would be complaining too. As it sits now the only place I can put the Cheaper part is in the MOST EXPENCIVE droid types. Besides an R-type droid espcialy is a UTILITY driod not a combate droid so we should be able to put the utility clusters OR the combate clusters in them.
