On both my old Crafting R3 (dec2003) and my new Combat R3 the color is different every time I call them, is this happening to anyone else, it was funny for a while now I find it annoying

its not a bug ... its by design

get it panted by a DE .. thiswill fix the problem for 20 calls when you will need to get it painted again

Well no, not exactly... it is a bug. There would be no reason to design a droid to have random colors until painted by a DE.

However, babyblue is right in that the problem will go away once you have the droid painted ("customized"). This will fix the random color problem and make the "Your droid's customization has completely faded away..." message go away, but the paint will need a new coat every so often.

Apparently in Publish 8 the DEVs will be allowing anyone (not just DEs) to use the droid paint kits, so you can use them just like the vehicle paint kits. You can look forward to that.

On a side note, with all the changes and rumors of changesgoing on in this profession (a sign of the apocalypse, I'm sure), it's oddly refreshing to see one of the most common Frequenty Asked Questions (hint! hint!) pop back up. Ahhhhhh.....

Why would DE's need a customization skill mod if this becomes the case? So people will be able to customize droids, but DE's will have more colors? Just curious, i don't think anyone makesa business out of painting people's droids.

I tend to colour new droids as part of the deal. then I charge 100cr for each re-colouring they want... not really a massive money spinner, but it pays for the MA parts.

Wow I wish I could pay for MA parts from 100 cr services. How do you do it?

The customization skill mod refers to the ability to color the droid chassis when crafted, and does not affect the droid customization kits. Presumably this will still be the case after publish 8, but there is some question as to whether or not we will still be able to color the droid chassis during the crafting stage, for completely different reasons than what is being discussed in this thread.

The ability to color droid chassis during the crafting stage has already been taken from us. For what reason I don't know, but hopefully it will be added back or we should get the ability to color them after they have been crafted.

I think you missed my point.

If my droids customization fades away completely it should revert to its standard paint job, not change colors every time I call it??

Your droid should not change colors every time you call it whether it's brand-spankin' new or the paint has faded completely. All astromechs do this, but it's a bug

There's a whole thread about this that TK started. They took away the chassis coloring as part of the process of preparing for publish 8, which will allow us to drop any un-tamed droid as displayable furniture. I'm sure that as part of this process we'll regain the ability to paint them during the crafting process (or rather, I hope). Guess we'll see.
