I've been away for about 3 months. I never tried to make a droid after the the droid revamp, and now I find that I cant even make a simple R2Adv with a General Droid Module Cluster.

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

I have the Cluster module built, but when I try to build the final droid it doesnt fit into any of the slots. It doesnt even show if I turn the flter on.

Your help is appreciated.

You need to use combat clusters even for utility mods in the R units. Why? Don't know.

Yeah I did the same thing the first time I made an R3 unit. You would think general mods go with general cluster and that the R units would take it.

But NOOOOOO!!!

R2 and R3 only take combat clusters so you have to put the general mods in that cluster type.

I have been looking for a "Dummy's Guide to Droid Engineer," personally. I took up the profession not as a hologrind but because I want to make droids. Now I find there are all these clusters and modules and am very confused. I searched here and on swgcraft.com but have not found a real basic guide yet. If there is one could someone point it out pretty please? I hate asking questions that have been asked a dozen times already. I just cannot find the threads.

I was looking for something simple, like. If I want to make a R3 entertainer droid with all 6 effects in it, what parts do I need to complete the whole project? I must be missing it someplace because looking at what is needed to make an R3 droid does not specifically tell me what I need to make a particular type of droid.

I feel pretty dumb in having to ask this with all you experts and do not want to waste your time. I am just at a loss. I need parts that say, "Put slot A in slot B" or something!

Thank you

Your best off to start with some of the guides and FAQs in the sticky at the top of this forum.

There's a few FAQs/guides there that can tell you most anything you'd need to know...

Enjoy!

Thank you TK that is the first place I went! There is a lot of good information there and information I will be back to review at a time later in my DE career.

Unless I am completely missing it, there is not a basic guide that explains what a cluster is and what a module is and which modules do you use with which cluster and which droid does it all go in.

I will look again but I have not seen anything that specific for my dummy brain *chuckle.*

That reminds me too... can you use advanced droid brains in places where it calls for a regular droid brain and get a better end product?

I think I found it! It is in a Yak guide! It is helping me figure this out anyway!

I am sure now, this particular guide needs to be listed as a Basic Guide for people like me, hehe..

I will be back with more questions later. Thank you!

Kylania yes, that is part of the problem hehe. Actually, I think these droids are just smarter than I am before I even get them put together. The one I did find still says R units take General Droid Module Sockets but from this thread I see that is not correct.

so.... I maketwo Combat Capable Scoket Clusters and I stick 3 Effect Modules in each during their construction? Or... I stick them in there after I stick them in the droid final assembly?

I will of course be experiementing. Right now I am asking these questions while making all the components. I am assuming when I get to the assembly point I will know by trial and error as to when I put which module in which cluster in which droid.

but.... I could be wrong....

Main problem with many of the sticky posts on many boards is that they are out of date with regards to the latest modules. Even the "Publish 8" ones are from before publish 8. Been thinking about trying to rewrite one or two of them with more up to date information, but I'm so sleepy.

You got it Solitiri, make your six effects modules... then construct two Combat Capable Socket Clusters with those six modules (3 in each). Your R3 Advanced Deed will use those two Combat Capable Socket Clusters and an R3 Advanced Chassis as components toward your final product.

Personally I figured all this out from the sticky postsin this forum (even though they are outdated a little) and trial and error. I've been crafting different types of droids and different modules and giving them to friends to experiment with so I learn how they work. At the very least I want to be educated when prospective buyers ask questions.

Thank you Rigel and yes that is exactly what I did! After I got all my components made and on my final stage of assembly to get the actual droid guess what happened. I nearly deleted the game from my computer after it critical failed. I cannot even begin to tell you how upset I was! But, because I am stubborn I tried it again and fnally got a finished product. I took it to a new master musician I know and we tried it out. It worked!

I was thinking it was more complicated than it really was and now the FAQs make more sense, now that I have made one droid to completion. They are great FAQs and as you say, even outdated, they are a great deal of help. I do look forward to experimenting and coming up with different types of droids.
