Thread: Question on mass producing and experimentation

I'm a new MDE on Gorath, and am about to start stocking up on parts and accessories for producing droids.

First I plan to mass produce all the minor parts like Adv Droid Brains etc... Starting from a full run of 1000 GP Componets, Memory Modules etc, and continuing the run down to the droid Chassis. So they're ready for final assembly for either custom orders or yet more mass droid productions.

I have a question though. For minor parts, like those you get with Master Artisan (control units, memory modules etc) is it worth the time and effort to experiment them up? The final product has no actual stats to speak of, so should I even bother to use quality resources or experiment with them? I just don't know if it impacts the final quality of the droid.

I can't answer the question for you, but I can give you a couple words of 'wisdom' on the matter....

First off, the standard droid subcomponents such as the Adv Brain, Brain, Manipulator Arm, Sensor, etc. will not effect the end quality of a droid, nor will the subcomponents used to create the droid parts. You will get the same stat results whether you use -10 parts or +10 parts as long as you use the same resources on the final build.

Secondly, parts with higher Mechanism Ratingsmight actually reduce the success rate of droid, or chassis, being built since each part has a higher Complexity rating.

The only parts, to my knowledge, that you want to spring the best resources on are optional components such as combat modules, and all level based components such as armor, storage, and maintenece modules. Armor modules do not need top of the line Composite Segments, however.

The devil's advocate to the above is that the droid crafting system could change one day to include the rating of each part, which could include all previously crafted droids. I seriously doubt this, but it could happen. Of course if it did, it would more than likely not be for at least 6 months down the line....

So the choice is yours on this one. Me? I use what ever parts are at hand....
