Thread: Harvestor power consumption just went up.
I know on my harvestors that I checked this morning that the power usage has doubled on them now. That means our resources will be more expensive to buy. That also means that I am raising prices on my droids to compensate.
What I'm hearing on other boards is that it is supposed to appear to be doubled, since it is showing an hourly rate (which is less confusing than the .5 hourly rate from before), however, people are reporting that this seems to be bugged, because it is actually costing twice as much as it was before.
It sounds just barely possible that this was 'fixed' and 'fixed' again.
In other words, one developer changed something that changed the harvester's reporting, simultaneously with another developer 'fixing' the issue by changing the actual consumption to match the displayed number, essentially attacking the problem from two ends.
Kinda how Probots were nerfed simultaneously with Creature Pets being vastly improved, thus wildly overshooting the balance mark they were seeking.
Yes, on a heavy for example they changed the unspecified rate from "45" to 90/hour. The old rate was actually at half hour increments, so maintenance did not go up - heavies are still 2160cr a day. People just saw the change from 45 to 90 and freaked. =)
However, when they made the change for power to display as hourly they messed something up somewhere, because power costs did double for all harvesters. For small/medium/large harvesters the daily power usage is now 1200/2400/3600. Ouch. =(
I'm hoping this is a bug or I'm going to have to buy another fusion... =(
Some of you are confusing power and maintenance.
Power consumption has doubled.
Maintenance has had its printed cost "corrected" to a more usable value. What used to be listed as "30", which meant 30 credits for 30 minutes, is now listed as "60 cr/hr". Same amount of money, but a more intuitive price tag.
Spec rates on generators have also gone up, though, so the nerf isn't as bad as it looks at first. I dropped my Fusion this morning and noticed that the Spec rate is now 19 KG/H instead of the old 13 KG/H. So the net effect of the nerf is that harvesters now cost roughly 33% more to run power-wise. (It takes twice as much power to run one, but we're getting 50% more power for the same cost from a generator.)
So it seems as if the actual consumption has not doubled. It's just that the calculation that displays the time remaining is off. Multiply the time it indicates by two to see how much run time you'll actually get.
I mean, I certainly won't complain if they cut the current power consumption in half, but my harvesters aren't eating any more power than they were before the patch.
Well apparently it varies from person to person then, because I just tended all of my harvesters and they are most certainly using twice as much power as before the patch.
36 hours ago I put in enough power and maintenance (using the "new" power numbers) for 3 days. I just checked and all of my harvesters now say that they have 36 hours of both power and maintenance left.
The numbers per day have doubled, the power consumption has not.
An old Medium Harvester needed about 1200 power to last a full day... Now, the harvesters SAY they need 2400 to last one day. However, after putting 1200 power into one harvester, and coming back a day later, the harv is still running, and has a smidge of power left over.
They just screwed up the numbers somewhere, the power hasn't doubled, but the numbers (xx:xx hours) seems to reflect that it has
