Thread: Possible reason for customization kit rather than skill

I have been thinking about it and I think the reason they put out a customization kit that doesn't useour skill line that determines colors and is usable by everyone is because they have future plans for the DE in regards to a skill set change. Why else would they go through the trouble to make a tool kit to handle it when the customization skill a patch before was working with the skill line and just before it goes live they remove it? I think what probably happened was they said, "Hey we can't push that skill because we're removing the entire line out, so lets make a kit that only DE's can build to color it." and later are going to remove that line entirely and replace it with something else. It makes the most logical sense for their sudden removal of the customization skill and the quick customization kit they added in not to mention the complete neglect of the experimentation points that come from the same skill line. I think there may be more going on with the DE profession in regards to future plans than they are willing to release to the public at this current point in time.

Just a little bit of hope for us all I suppose, or maybe I'm just trying to be optimistic in this stagnant pool of urine we call the DE profession.

Pool of urine? You're thinking way to high of us...

You had some good thoughts... but it's very difficult to be optomistic now.

Very good theory you got there. You cannot even imagine how much I hope that you are right ;-) Oh wait, you are a DE - you can!

You need at least novice DE to use the customization kit, but all color choices are available... and unfortunately it seems you can't customize other people's droids unless they are traded to you (of course, requiring a free slot). Giving a customization kit to a non-DE helps not.

Oh, and some droids DO hold their color, particularly probots. I am not sure yet about the others.

To color a droid, have the droid's owner type '/consent YourName'. Then you'll be able to.

All droids were holding their color on Friday. Now, all the droids which were NOT holding their color on Thursday, are busted, and can't be crafted, and can't be pulled from the datapad.

they make an droid customization tool useable by everyone so DEs dont get something they cando (which seams to be their goal)

its so funny why does a patch that doesnt have anything for DEs in it, break everything related to DEs...

About a month ago, I made a post that was along a similar train of thought.I would have to agree with the theory that more is at work here, then has been spoken of. Here is the link to the post that I wrote.

I was of the belief that not just anyone could use the customization kit, and that non DE characters who try to use it receive the message "You do not have ability to customize droid." I thought I had seen another person post this on the forum somewhere, have not personally had someone try it for me though.
