Some people are intelligent.
Some people are wise.
As long as the wise control the intelligent, the world should do just fine.

Hi guys, newbie DE here. I'm currently working on getting up the DE tree, but I gotta make some money while doing this. What do you guys suggest I make and sell while in the low levels of DE? Right now I'm at 1-0-0-2 in the tree. I've made some seekers because I figured they would sell pretty well.

Hello, just got my Novice box tonight, I was just wondering what the Experianced DE's would suggest for my Grind to master. I'm serious about being a DE, I just want to get to master as soon as possible. Thanks ahead for your input.

Rule #1 of Droid Engineering: Don't grind to Master without learning what's in each box.

Rule #2 of Droid Engineering: Must have read the "Droid Engineering 101" post.

All of your answers are contained in the above 2 rules.

----Nolhta Fyoen----Master Droid Engineer----TestCenter
----Accoubacca----TKA/Commando---TestCenter

I, honestly, found the version of the DE 101 sticky I just read quite confusing. Also a little overwhelming. Seems like most of it must be aimed at those who've grinded their way to Master then must figure out what to do. I managed to understand the grinding tips, however.Seeing as it requires so many MSE droids to gain the first box, I suppose I'll have lots of time to absorb the information.

Welcome to being a Droid Engineer.

Each Section of the guide is set up to deal with many of the common questions that are asked here over and over. It is also designed to help suppliment the amount of information that you have to digest while trying to learn the profession. Droid Engineer is one of the most complex crafting professions in the game, with BioEngineer being almost on par.

Itreally is more for those who grind their way up, and don't have the first clue how to make a droid. The best way is to learn as you go, my first character took4 months to master DE. You'll learn more by doing, and once you've made a few dozen droids, it will probably be easier to understand.

My advice would be not to grind. Or at the very least, take quite a bit of time at each skill box to learn the ins and outs of your new schematics. If you don't have the patience to take your time and master this profession, you probably don't have the patience required to keep DE. Patience goes a long way in this profession, you'll learn this by explaining the same things to your customers over and over.

Good luck, and keep plenty of droid lube handy

I've played around a LOT with the DE skills on Beta and Test, I just don't know what to grind. a friend told me to start with MSE droids to Blueprints 2, then Advanced Droid Frame Unit to master. Just wondering if there was an Easier or faster way to get there. Not looking to slight anyone, but I've been playing a crafter (Armorsmith, then Weaponsmith) for nearly 8 months now so I know what i'm doing there. Was just asking for advice from those that have done THIS profession for a while.

Actually, Javelin answered you 100% correct.

The Stickies are your friend. If you've been an Armorsmith and Weaponsmith, then you should be accustom to reading the great stickies that are located on both of those forums. I know that Jaato and Logix have excellent guides stickied to the top of their forums.

Unlike Armorsmith and Weaponsmith, Droid Engineer has a ton of hidden bugs that you will only find if you learn from the ground up, or read the DE 101 and Centralized Droid Issues threads.

Not to be a dork about it, but as stated above:

Rule #2 of Droid Engineering: Must have read the "Droid Engineering 101" post.

Seriously.

That has all the information you need on the subject. And I do mean everything (well, except JTL and that's going in ASAP from what I understand).

However, to answer your question as quick as possible...

MSEs through Blueprints till you can make Maniplulator Arm Package Sets.

MAPS till you can make Advanced Frame Units.

AFU's till Master.

There IS an alternate route, of Binary Load Lifter chassis's at Blueprints 4. However, due to the severe resource intensive nature of them and the fact that you have to do several long factory runs before you can get there... it's really not worth it. In the time and resources it would take to do all the factory runs and make the chassis's, you'd be a MDE already.

Additionally, the first rule in a post above mine had it right... if you are going to grind, learn what each of them do. Especially the bug issues. I made the mistake of grinding to MDE, but not really know what did what. I ended up selling a customer 3 Surgical droids with Item 6 mods in it without knowing any better. That might not make sense now, but it will. And there are many more where that came from.

I hope at the very least this helps ya be a more productive and profitable DE.

I'm actually working on the new version as we speak. I'veonly updated the guide up to Section 4. I'm also adding in two new sections to help with JtL and FAQs.

I find the DE 101 post to be quite helpful actually.

Sure, I still ask a lot of questions, but as far as just raw, "what does this do" information, the DE 101 post can't be beat.

Although, I did get mislead by the post, thinking regular structure maintenance mods could get you 10 buildings, crafted a level 1 and only have 3

But that was just my n00bish of coming back after awhile and forgetting a person only gets 10 lots to begin with, so a level 1 mod probably won't cover the whole thing.
