I didn't see anything like this in past posts, but wouldn't it make sense to use the slots in the droid to represent its life/defence and attack/damage factor. so if I build my adv probot, I have the ability to give it 3 weapon attack modules, giving it a pretty high attack factor, but making it with no life and no armour, you get the jist of the idea really, allowing d.e.'s to customize a droid more

as of now "probot a" is no different than "probot b" despite the modules u put in it, ohh it has a crafting station, well MR. RANCOR, can I bore you to death while I craft a few tents? watch my skill, watch me grind, away I go!!!!

this will better allow a user to customize the droid to his preference, giving it average ham, and armour, and attack power, or maxing out one, i.e. by stacking it full of droid armour modules to make it soak up the damage

now how do we build droid weapon attack modules? easy, we need weapon components from weaponsmiths, and the components we use affect the overall strength of the attacks depending on the module made, of course this would only affect the "laser" attacks, not sure if possible to get a probot to wiled a sword for melee, lol, ok done ranting!

Mentioned? Yes.

But that's as far as it has gone, so far.

And at this point, it would be nice to preserve what function we have left, nevermind adding things...

Does anyone use a combat droid while hunting?

are they any good?

any one better than another?

obviously I'd look for a high kinetic resist droid...

haven't owned a droid yet and my mount is useless as a tank (no CH therefore CL10)

I have a tank droid (it has modules that repairs itself and nearby droids) that I never use. I am not patient enough to deal with issuing commands and all (so i don't use pets either).

a combat droid is 40% resists to all. Its not something that can be experimented. Usually for a probot its 3k HAM, Advanced R3 4K. And we got an LE repair droid up to 5500 HAM.

I use them and like them but JBMat loves them.

I have a pro-bo that I call pea-shooter. all you need know about how useful it is can be summarised in that name. If you want something to irratate a rancor while you kill it, a probot is fine. But don't expect real damage.

I've had a couple or more...

Currently giving pad space to:

LE Droid 40% resist, 6k HAM, 1.5 att speed, 65 damage (lol, well... he was cute. Big sad eyes, I just had to take him on...) Looks funny punching and kicking at the target. Has autorepair which seems to eat batteries more than it fixes droid.

Drex, an adopted R3 unit with 40% resists, 4500HAM, 1.5 speed, 125 damage. His twin had electic attack of some sort, but this berks just got a pizza cutter. Oh, and he delivers stimpacks

Probot,40% resists. 3k HAM, 0.7 att speed, 190 damage. Useful for chasing beggars and putting the wind up jedi...

I think we've got a couple of droid deeds up in the storehouse (I inherited a few bits and bobs a while back and am still finding 'stuff') but other than a probot with maybe 4k HAM i think the rest are civilian droids.

FOr the most part get the highest resist and highest HAM you can. I've kept mine with low damage cos I want the weapon XP, not to give it to some dumb bot, lol. Batteries are cheap, really, so unless you've got one with loads of 'extras' and its autorepairing, running costs are minimal.

Droid repair kits I've not tried, having had some bad experiences with weapon / armour kits in the past, but I'd reckon a good high quality one would be worth investing in.

Choice of 'body' is, imho, a matter of personal taste. I prefer the humanoid ones to the dustbins tho I've been given to understand that some of the R series can be made way tougher.

Ok, from what I gather, they're not damage dealers, but will the creature retain aggro on the droid or barrel past it to chew on the guy with the rifle?

although, I think its cool they can repair themselves...

Just wanted to chime in that the 40% resists thing is a display bug. They actually got nerfed back to 20% resists a few publishes back (pub7, I believe). The current selection of combat droids can be useful depending on the situation. The previously mentioned tankbot config is popular.

Okie dokie

I love my combat droids.

Probots are good as fast damage. Their overall armor and HAM are not as high as some R5s, but they do more damage. I use these on multiple NPCs.

R5s, high HAM (4500) 40% across the board resists. My tank. Two types of damage, kinetic and electric. Send one if these in and laff as you shoot the creature who is attempting to hurt the droid.

I have used my tank on the Sith Shadows to great advantage. Send in the tank, they aggro him. You stand at range and drop them.

Look around, talk to people. See who makes the best on your server. Also get batteries and some droid stims.

Best part - NO SKILL POINTS NEEDED TO USE.

Droids rawk. Pets run off in fear.

and yep, usually the MoB stays aggroed on the bot, but not always, so don't get too complacent.

Actually the change wasnt from 40% to 20. It was from AP2 to AP0 and it kept its 40% protections
