Just what good is adding armor to a droid now that there is no armor rating?

I haven't seen any change in HAM, damage done or % of resists between putting in a Lvl 6 Armor module or just leaving it out. Does it actually do anything any more? Can we just leave it out, saving ourselves time and money making them?

A simple question, from a simple mind.

yes, without armor you don't get any resists (though it is bugged and will show you resists). Maximum resists is 20%, its a fairly linear progression from I think 3% at level 1 to 20% at level 6.
