Thread: Interplanetary Survey Droid Sucks

Instead of spending 10k on a stack of droids, waiting 20 mins and then getting some names I could alt-tab, type www.swgcraft.com and within 2-3 clicks, you have the names, the values, and the amount of time its been there.
You guys are missing the points of these droids.
SWGCraft is only as good as whomever is submitting information at the moment.
Let's say I am on Dantooine, and I have some harvesters on Rori that are pulling up extrusive. Instead of taking a half dozen shuttle trips just to go out and see if it's shifted off-planet, I can let one of these babies up and know the instant, correct answer - instead of hoping that someone updated they listing at SWGCraft recently.
This is a SURVEY droid, not a sampling droid.
That said, once you know of a specific resource, it WOULD be handy to have an actual sampling droid that could return one unit of a specific resource that you have verified exists.

If the droid you are buying DOES NOT have charges than it is not a Survey Droid also these droid REQUIRE you to have a Survey tool in your inventory and they Take the tool with them and you'll never see it again.
I think there should be 3 survey type droids first the current one, followed by a Specific reasouce droid that returns the Stats of 1 reasouce, and Finally one the requires you to be on the planet and It returns to you a WP to the highest consintration in a ~600m radious, twice Survey 4 and requires Survey 4 to use.

While all droids function the same there are Differances in Quality both in the number of chages you get and how fast it reports back to you.

(1) These will help keep sites like SWGCraft updated. Won't eliminate the need for people to travel to them, but if noone has visited yavin or endor in 2 days and you don't have time to make it out there sending a droid will do a lot. I was able to fully update all of the mineral, chem and gas for a planet that wasn't edited in 2 days because all the new resources were already found on other planets and the stats already known. And while not fully updated I could also monitor the shift status of the florals, but not add unknown stats.
(2) The biggest use I will have for these in game is to monitor off world resource spawns that I'm already harvesting. If I'm on tatooine and I currently have marvesters mining the class 4 liq. that only spawned on Talus by day 5 or 6 on the spawn I'm going to want to start sending these out instead of having to make the 2 shuttle hops just to find out that the spawn hasn't shifted yet.
(3) This could also be done in reverse for planet specific resources - say the current talus water sucks and you want to watch for the rotation before going out there to see what it is. Every trip saved is worth the usage.
So, no, these will really not allow established crafters make a decision to start harvesting something all by themselves. And for the resource sellers who basically care little about specific resource classes, but are just out to get whatever they can sell for high CPU these wont really help a lot other then to know its resource shift time on the server. BUT, to most people these have the potential for sending out a couple of charges a week and saving a pile of travel time - or just better planning that travel time. Which is a GOOD and USEFUL thing.
well worth the 250 credits/charge I paid today

What are you talking about? Mod? No mod? To what are you referring?
Are you talking about using the tool? You have to have a survey tool OF THE TYPE you wish to survey. (as mentioned in the stickied threads, in the focus thread, and in many other threads here.)
This is consumed. There are no 'mods' or any modules or modifications able to be put onto this droid - every survey droid is the same. No customization.
Is that what you were questioning?
I got that term from the DE who sold me the droid hell I don't know but thanks to you know I do..
