Remember the hype over Droid Invasion? I can remember weeks before excited because I heard a rumor that you could call more than one droid at once. Well that was more of a sales pitch, I got over not being able to call out multiple droids. But what bothers me is this:
Why does SOEhold master DE's back from calling out multiple droids? A Master DE should be able to call out 4 droids IMO. It would be so cool to see MDE's running around with a pack of droids, they are Masters of Droids after all.
MDE's in space:
A master DE should have the ability to craft a"crew member" droid., This droid can do this such as man a turret, repair damage, or run the co-pilot operations in the co pilot seat on an MPS. Now normal ppl (Non MDE's) can only pull out a single droid at once. So having one "crew member" droid on board an MPS is not some HUGE advantage and would not unbalance space.
An MDE in space has earned the right (grinded DE) to have an all robotic crew aboard his MPS, and by being the only classable to pull out 4 droids at once, theMDEis the only one who isallowed an all robotic crew, making this eventsomewhat rare. He is a master of droids after all.
If you want a crew of all NPC's in space, you must grind DE, but it should be an option to players.
Just my thoughts., I think your guy's proffesion needs a serious look at. I have no DE skills but I think this would be great for you guys and give you a new business- crew member droids.

I love this idea. I'm not too sure about MDE's being able to crew a whole ship by themselves, but having a single droid crew member to repair stuff, or man a turret or whatnot, would be darn cool.
As for DE's being masters of droids, we are Engineers of Droids, not Mastersof Droids. When's the last time a Ford Engineer won the Daytona 500? Just because you can craft something and know the inner workings does not necessarily mean you can operate it effectively.

My ideal dynamic would be that the droid crewmates are not near as good as a human player, they just kind of get you by. The gunners would not be all too accurate, the co pilot slow to react, idealy you would want human crewmates but the option is there. my 2 cent more.

/seeandsayvoice: The Devs say: "DE is not a crew-member droid building profession!"
