Thread: Ship Repair?

I'n the movies everyone has seen R2-D2 repairing ships on ground and in flight, and C-3PO translating the 'Falcon computer's' list of repairs etc. Is there developmentor can there be development of a module for driods to repair ships?

There's nothing of the sort currently in game.
It's been talked about by players, but I don't know if it's gone any farther than that.

Here is a couple of droid ideas i came up with on another post.
Autopilot Droids: All multi passenger ship captians wish that their autopilot worked when they get up from the pilots seat. I think that we should be able to make amodulethat allowed any humanoid or R series droid able to control ship to various WP in space.The module will have a opptional chip in it to do a few different things:
- No Chip = straight line flights to different wp.
- Pilot Chip = straight line flights to different wp with object collision avoidance.
- Adv. Pilot Chip = straight line flights to different wp with object collision avoidance and defensive flight when attacked.
- Military Pilot Chip = searches area X x Y x Z big for targets and trys to follow so pilot can attack in gun turrets, should be loot drop item.
AutoRepair Stations: This peice of furniture is placeable within a Multi passager ship, and can be loaded with a number of repair kits. When said ship takes damage the droid springs to life to repair any and all damage till it runs out of repair kits or ship is destroyed. This was on Queen Amidala's ship on the first movie, when the droids sprang to life to repair the ships shield system.

Here's a simple idea... when you sit in a medical center, your wounds will heal slowly - 10 points every x minutes or however long it is... why not make it so that an astromech with a repair module can do the same thing for a ship while flying?
It wouldn't be terribly powerful, but it would be useful for in flight. One possible drawback is that only Z-95, Y-wing, and X-wing pilots could benefit it.... unless in a mutiplayer ship you have the droid as a group member...
Also, at higher levels in the droid tree, you could tell the droid to concentrate on specific parts to repair ("Artoo, that stabilizer's worked loose again... Artoo, see if you can increase the power...")
Consider the med center comparison again - med center's no good when you've got 200-300 points of wounds, but when you've got say 20-30, it's okay to sit there if there are no medics around. Why couldn't an astromech repair ten points on a damaged capacitor while you're cruising 10k meters to your next mission waypoint?

I dont think that the one seater with an astromech should get the repair ability... as they are rebel only (might upset the other players) and rebels already have a repair command....
The Version for the MP-Ships sounds like a good idea though
