Thread: Droid Engineer: The Most Complex Profession?

I've been Master DE for 2 or 3 weeks now, and I'm still completely lost. I've been too chicken to build any proper droids, and instead ground it out on chasis and stuff. I've been making money with Swoops and the new vehicles, and even though I've only been an Architect for about a fortnight, I know more about that profession than this one. Everytime I look at a Droid blueprint and try to figure out the quantities and types of resources needed, I get a headache. My Spreadsheets are huge.

And that's why I love it. Architect you just dump in tonnes of 3 or 4 resources and wahey - you have a building (maybe a bit simplified :-p). Here, I have to find a million and one different types in small quantities.

And thank you Drashk - your FAQ has been invaluable. You should be sainted.

My opinion I say weaponsmith and armorsimth are most complex.

Once you get all the required resources and make factory runs of at leastthe basic droid components, its pretty easy to do.

Don't say that - I'll want to change. :-p

It really depends what you mean by complex. In AS or WS quality matters more, but DE's have the most subcomponants and parts to keep track of. We have an ability to customize that the others don't.

I agree that BE is the most complex, seeing as they now have so many differnet things to make. Pets alone make them more complex. I love a challenge, but I gave up on BE after a few weeks. I just couldnt get behind trying to figure out the best way to combine DNA samples to get the results I wanted.

But as D said, DE is hands down the most complex in its combination of resource needs AND components use. WS use more specdific resources, and quality counts, but not *that* many more. And they only deal with, what, 8 different components or something? AS I think is pretty dang close to DE now that they have all this new armor to make. But no one has the depth of options DE has, and the flexibility in end products. No one else, NO ONE, has as much factorywork as we do.... particularly if we want to factory run a finished droid model.

Check my spreadsheet out. Its been pretty handy for keeping up with what is needed to craft, particularly the new Factory Run section.

Funny thing is, I think the absolute best mixture of crafting would be DE flexibility with SW experimentation options (lots of lines) and factory use restrictions, with WS resource needs and desireability of product, with Tailor color options, and AS decay. This, IMHO, would be the ultimate crafting prof in the game.

Jedi will never be a starting profession...Looted items and quest items will never be better then crafted items, this is not a loot based game...CH will return shortly...CH and BE will not be back in game...Rangers are getting their revamp next!...The stealth system will not be changing in the spy expertise...Need any more examples of things the devs said that did not hold true?

If you are looking for the most complex of all crafting systems in the game, Bio Engineer is the winner. Not only does BE have a ton of component and subcomponents for Medical goods and Pet Medical goods, but BEs also have a completely seperate Cloning system that requiresa lot knowledge of higher math functions, then any other crafting profession. Unfortunately, the BE clone crafting system also has its fair share of bugs.

Droid Engineer is the most complex, when it comes the the vast number of options that one has to craft a single droid, as a Master DE. With 45+ different components that can be installed into a droid, not including the actual components that are required to craft the droids chassis itself, the actual number of combonations of modules that a droid can have is only limited to what is deemed needed by the target market.

And I'm glad that the guide helped you out. Thats the reason that I put it together. So that it can help others to discover this profession that has given me such joy, and frustration.
