Thread: Droid Clarification needed. Please help...
With the way the xp is distributed post CU, I think I'd skip the auto-repair modules and get a pure combatAdvance Probot. Instead of auto-repair, I would use Droid Repair kits. You'd probablywant something that does the most amount of damage as possible since creatures tend to go after whatever/whomever is dealing the most damage.

I have read the DE 101 a couple times and I believe I know what kind of Droid I'm looking for, but I was hoping I could have a couple of you DE's critique and/or clarify anything I may have overlooked as well as answer my questions below.
Designated Use: 1) Work as a tank and puller while I'm fighting mobs and lairs of mobs. 2) Provide assist in PvP because I have recently become a Padawan and I would like assistance from the Droid against the BH's coming after me.
Droid of Choice: R3 Unit Max HAM 4500
HAM is different now, max on an R3 is about half that.
Reason for Choice: Reasonably high HAM with the capability of decent attack damage.
Inserted Module: Droid Armor Module, Droid Combat Module, Auto-Repair Module
The armor module doesn't take a slot, so you have 6 slots. If you want a droid to Tank, go 5 auto repair and 1 combat module. If you want a Droid to deal damage, go all combat, if you go all combat, use a Probot.
To deal with a BH, I say go Probot. The Auto Repair modules wont make it live longer, but the Probots damage is harder to ignore. Don't expect a lot in PVP though.
Questions:
1) Confusion between two sections in DE 101:I saw the battery life is reduced to 2 hours, from 4 hours, with a Auto-Repair Module, but in a different section it said the typical battery life is 1 hour per charge. I have a lot of speculations of what each of these statements mean, so can someone clarify how long do the batteries last? Does a new battery in a droid last longer than if I charge it? Are droid batteries replaced or recharged? I don't understand...
Batteries don't go directly into droids, you just use a charge on them. Charges used to last 1 hour, but not last 4, Auto Repair cuts that in half.
2) Is a droid ever permanently destroyed (other than when using a detonation module)?
Only if it gets killed enough for its vitallity to reach zero, doesn't happen often.
3) Tell me if this is correct: Droids have a HAM like anyone else, but defined as such; Health = remaining hit points it can take, Action = if it's available to perform an Action, Mind = Battery life
Wrong. Only Health does anything at all, that's hitpoints.
4) If I have my droid attacking a BH, will that BH be able to /requeststimpack from my droid if I have a Stimpack Dispenser Module installed.
No, he can't access anything from your Droid.
5) Are Combat Modules Melee, Ranged, or both? If both, can I control which one it attacks with? If one or the other, can I put in both and control which it uses?
Sort of borked right now, it depends what droids they go in. Probots and DZ's are ranged, R series and LE's are melee, you should be able to choose on an R series, but that isn't working.
6) In groups where we have a Creature Handler, we've been using one of their pets using the /attack, then /follow commands to pull a single mob from a lair. Upon doing this, even if there's 3 other Pikets on top of the one we're pulling, the others don't move and only the targeted one will go after the pet. Will I be able to do the same with a droid?
Yes
7) If I put in 2 armor modules, will their defenses stack?
No
That's all I can think of at this moment. Any help is appreciated and if you're on Eclipse and want to help me field test, that would be appreciated as well.

ROFL
That would be the funniest game-break I ever encountered!
Thank you for the answers!Quick follow up questions, if you don't mind:
1) Confusion again. Per DE 101,speaking of the R3,"The Advanced version has room for 6 modules and 2 armor modules." Does this mean that the 2 armor modules are built-in during construction and the 6 modules are the only modifiable ones? Therefore, there are no Armor Modules to add on my part?
2) Where can I find the current HAM's for Post-Publish 17 Droids?
3) Speaking of tanking only, what would be better? An R3 with 5 Repair Modules / 1 Combat Module or an LE Repair Droidwith it's higher HAMand 2 Repair Modules / 1 Combat Module. Don't know the new HAM levels, so if I knew that, I might be able to anser this question myself.
4) Can I remove and add modules as my needs change?

1) Nothing is modifiable once the droids is crafted, fyi. The two armor module slots are for actual armor modules that supposedly add armor, but that disappeared with the CU. Currently, there is no armor for droids.
2) I'll defer that and #3 to someone else.
4) Refer to #1.
5) Probot/DZ70/Astromech/LE Repair droids have a CL of 18. All of them. Regardless of what modules you add to them. I believe the droid will change its level to match yours, so if you're a CL 7, then it downgrades itself to a 7 instead of 18. Correct me if I'm wrong, guys.

Right you can't add anything after the droid is buil,t the armor is installed then.
2) Where can I find the current HAM's for Post-Publish 17 Droids?
It looks like 2700 HAM is the top for all Droids right now. I don't have the exact figures, but that is the ceiling it seems.

Current CU bugs, go for the R3.
4) Can I remove and add modules as my needs change?
No once it is built, it is built.
5) Do droids have combat levels? If so, if I group them with myself, will their defenses match my level just like another character does?
No pet levels do not change grouped or not, they still fight at the same level, this applies to Droids and pets.

For PVE a probot is your best choice because its ranged and mobs dont always attack it back. It is really only usefull for 1.)occupying a enemy 2.) adding a little bit of extra damgae ever 2 seconds 3.) single pulling...
Combat and droids arent really going together at this time.
