Thread: If we can have.... why can we have this?
And while we're at it, why can't we make Lay-z-boy armchairs in-game so we can sit out by our porch, sip lemonade, and let the game run with minimal interaction? Heck, let's just do away with the UI and go back to text-based online games!
/sarcasm off
Sorry, I couldn't resist.
The point I think is not that we want to sit on our armchairs and watch the world go by, but that crafters need help right now more than ever. The devs has given us shot after shot in the chops, from bugs to nerfs to...well we all know the long lilst of problems just read the forum posts.
When you start to think of your profession as a job and not as having fun then something is not right. Crafting simply takes too long and is too tedious. Harvesting is a long dangerous process now if you are a pure crafter (and to those that will say 'but it's fun to avoid the mobs and danger is exciting!' ya well I'm sure you enjoy a good laugh at the cloner time and time again but I don't,,,chalk it up to character flaws on my part) A few time-saving ideas like the one proposed here would go a long way to show us that the devs still care. I find myself playing my combat toon a lot more these days and cringe when it's time to log the crafter on. Perhaps it's time for a 'crafter upgrade' now that the CU is in place?
Just my 2 credits...
This goes back to the beta/release days idea that shows the devs still havent realized that droids are supposed to be more then eye candy in the background. We can keep lobbying for them to use droids more liberally for all sorts of tasks. What we get... -shrug-

Sorry, I couldn't resist.Seriously, in the Star Wars world, droids provide all kinds of functionality. ALL kinds. Most of the human establishments in the galaxy are dependent on droids for everyday functions like laundry, household maintenance, firefighting, ship repair, even building demolition. Heck, the devs should be adding a new kind of droid with every publish if they were to keep true to the SW mythos.
Actually, I posted this on the "Where Do . . . profession?" forum
Just like you said, it shouldn't be too hard to add in to the existing system (especially with the Maintence Module worthless for the most part)..
My additional thought would be to geve the module limited storage and to give BLL and its advanced model a big bonus in storage (so there would be a reason for its existance other than looking cool).
BTW: If anyone would like to do a sticky to my origanal posting, I'll give youa Wookie-Hug ![]()

It would be great if only a BLL could have a Resource Retrieval Module, but you would have to have an item storage module since you need a place for the resources to get stored at until the droid gets back.
Cuore
Unless the Resource Retrieval Module (great name BTW) schematic included aDroid Storage Compartment.

my personal oppinion is more like that our profession is doomed to die since there seems to be no interest by the DEV to keep it alive...a slow and painful vanashing like a choclate bunny on the mantle of a fireplace...all that stays is a sweet memory
Well, the main emphasis with the CU was for combat (thats what the "C" in "CU" stands for; see how that works?
I am hopeful that the devs will keep to their word, that after the CU went in, and the major kinks had been worked out that crafting professions would also go through an upgrade process. I'm sure I'll get flamed for being this optimistic, that the devs have never done this, they promise x and deliver y, that they don't really care. To those who would flame allI can say is; "Plbbbbbbbbbbtttttttt!" ![]()
