Thread: Returning to the Post-CURB universe..advice please?

Greetings!

So, The CURB is in place..and I can still build my Droids so thats all cool (bugs ignored..different issue)

Now, I think to go try my Master Pistoleer awsomeness on Lok as I used to, and I get a rude awakening, so I seek advice if you please.

I am a Glorious CL54 it seems, and on Lok the missions are circa 6k payout as an Imp alone. I am not A'feared cos I have my trusty R3, and in need I have a long unused AT-ST in my pocket..so off I go just to see how these new specials work out on something more challenging than Nuna's.

Well..it does not go well. My cursed enemies turn out to be CL65 (I thought missions were meant to be +/- 2CL difference??) but no matter..I am both brave and stupid (as it turns out).

R3 does his thing, full as he is with high quality auto-repair and but a single Combat module, but I get too close and am incapped in short order...Awakening, and feeling a sheen of dampness on my brow, I run away, R3 heads for the hills in a remarkable show of good sense .

Out comes my AT..and on we go. The despicable Rebel General goes down, as does the Major General who is (no doubt)his boot licker and presumably Catamite, and the Empire's finest mech is doing ok..but then the Major comes out of his tent.

What happened next staggered me. AT suddenly decides to not be a 60 foot tower of deadly firepower, but instead dies a horrible death in seconds, as do I moments later. I am stunned, literally.

So, what on earth (or in this case Lok) is going on??

Is it now not possible to run faction missions as a hybrid crafter (yes I know the 'safe' planets are available with difficulty 15 missions (circa 1000cr payout) but thats silly isn't it?

Am I missing something essential here?

As things stand, my concern is that while I love making my Droids, even a M/Pistoleer seems not to be able to do much combat good. In short, is the Hybrid template dead? Or, am I just doing something wrong?

'Tis not a whine, just an honest seeking of enlightenment. I have to say that if this is now as designed, I can't say I like it. I'd rather get the opinions of my fellow DE's than go to the GCW forum..that place depresses me.

What comment..if any?

Cheers

Hmm I havn't ran missions on Lok myself, but I know the ones on Dant give you the proper level.Try one of the other medium planets maybe?

Yes the world is a much more dangerous place now. Make sure you are using all the specials you have, Pistol has some nice control specials.

Thanks Straker

I will indeed try Dant then, and see what happens re correct levels.

it is odd that R3 managed to last longer than my AT tho..in fact he didn't get incapped at all. I know I make good droids , and he is a pre-CURB model with the old HAM at max, but even so!!

The universe is indeed a more dangerous place, I do hope that this isn't evidence of a 'must group' designer thought process tho..well not at mid level anyway.

We shall see!

Cheers

Lok may need some balancing, even though you were running faction missions. It may have also been a case of the odd spawn. Next time, you may want to check the Health value of the target, if something odd begins to happen. Sometimes, especially on server borders, a mob will list a level, but will have Health that is 5-6k higher then it should be and hit for 50-150 more damage then it should. I'd guess and say that not all of the old pre-CU code was removed on some/all mobs, which allows them to behave oddly.

If you are running Imperial faction mission, I would highly suggest running them out of the Imperial Oasis, on Tatooine. It is one of my favorite Imperial stomping grounds, since you can generally pull missions that are 1k away and don't have to be worried about a ton of player owned buildings in the area.

Thank you, oh grizzled one

I was unaware that certain planets/MOBS might remain unbalanced..I will certainly look more carefully.

The Oasis eh? My, that takes me back to the old days..havn't been there since being a 'noob'...it will be good to see it again after all this time.

/bow..and Respectfully too

There are still a number of balance passes that need to be made, on specific mobs, to bring them in line with other mobs of the same CL. A few planets have been recieving slight balance passes since the CU went live.

The Oasis isn't noob friendly at all, at least from the last time I passed its way, a few weeks back. When I saw it, the mission terminal had a CL cap of about 45, as the minimum. (At least thats what I recall, and we all know how well the memory of a grizzled DE is. )

Well worth a visit then, thanks for the pointer. Just shows how things move on in this Universe without anyone necessarily knowing.

I'm sure your memory is just fine, the only wonder is that you seem to have managed to 'hang in there' wheras I, being weaker, needed to get away for a while. Respectfully is truly meant Drashk!

Hmm, a picure is forming even in my muddled head

Lok was, perhaps, not the best place to be experimental lol

Thanks!
