Thread: Harvesting & Trapping Modules
Thanks Ronaj.
Just an FYI. Check out the Centralized Droid Issues Thread, stickied to the top of the forum here. Majority of the droid issues can be found reported there. The Harvesting module entry can be found there.
The trapping issue isn't so much as to deal with the trapping module, but more to deal with the traps themselves. Its an indirect issue thateffects thetrapping modules function, but is not a result of the trapping module not functioning properly.

Actually that's not true. Several of the tests have been done with the Lecepanine Dart trap and the Phecnacine Dart trap, both of which work, i.e. hit and stick, when thrown without the use of a trapping droid but don't when a trapping droid is used.
Quote from Ninyania on the scout forums...
"Skip the trapping droids - they don't work. I've got a 105 rating droid, it can't land a lecapine dart on anything past CL25, whereas I have no problems landing a trap on a CL30-35 - except that its only worth 1 exp.
CL 61, Scout 4044, +21 dweezle, +105 droid = no exp gain for trapping."
There are actually 2 issues with trapping at the moment, Ninyania's test alone proves that. Now I'm not sure if it's the general function of the module that's not working or if it's the stacking of trapping skill mods. It warrants further investigation but can't think of a way any of us, other than the devs, can do more testing on it.
Also thanks for pointing out that other thread, I had just looked at the top one but had misread the date listed and thought it was only a month old.

What I stated about the Trapping module is true, from a certain point of view. ![]()
The module is working correctly. What I forgot to state was that the CL system is the problem. Due to the Droid having its own CL rating, when the droid throws the trap, the CL of the droid and the CL of the mob are compared. Since the Droid is CL18, any mob above CL25 becomes difficult to hit with a trap. The same can be said of a PC that is CL18.
As is, the module is working correctly, however the way that the numbers are compared is the issue. I'm 99.9% sure that this is working as the DEVs intend it to, which is not to say that its what I think should be done, but I do see the issues with trying to change it.
About the only way that I think the issue could be addressed is if the overall trapping rating of the droid determined the CL comparision number for the system to look at, when the droid tosses a trap at a MOB. If the scale was adjusted so that the droids rating gave it a trapping comparision CL rating of a Ranger with the same rating, then the system might work, however I'm pretty certian that the DEVs are going to do that one. ![]()
With Droids getting a CL boost in the next publish, to a maximum of CL30, the trapping range of a droid will be increased to mobs below CL40.
The Trapping module is another example of a DE product that is almost useful, but doesn't make the grade when it comes to being useful for the overall intended market. ![]()
