Thread: DE Problems
The recent changes, or lack thereof, got me thinking. A lot of people, including the devs (per Holo's comment today) seem to focus on the pets vs. droids thing. I'd be as happy as the next person if we could make useful Probots or, dare I hope, Droidekas. But they recognize the inherent problem in that this game has become too reliant on pets - and face it, Droids are pets as far as the game system is concerned.
Now maybe it's just me, but I'd rather they worked on fixing the abundance of things currently broken in DE - we have a list a mile long - before turning us into combat pet suppliers, if that's their intention. And I worry that they're overly concerned about how combat droids might effect balance to get around to fixing the essentialy broken structure of theprofession.
Make experimentation work, make customization work, fix the cluster bug, make the specialized droids worth something and not just a different shaped shell for the handful of modules that aren't useless. Let us repair the **edit** things (hopefully this is working on TC now).
Make the current droids useful, functional and in-demand, and thengive us new modules, new models, and worry about how combat droids might effect balance.
Or maybe I just kid myself in thinking they actually bother worrying about DE at all... =)
Junko,
I'm pretty much in agreement with you here.
It's my firm belief that it will always be easier to fix existing code than to add new items from scratch. This is especially true if the current things that are broken are not fixed.
I simply see no upside to adding a lot of new droids and modules (which might well be broken) before we have working versions of all currently implemented droid types and modules.

Respectfully,
I concur, but I would still like to see the probots damage raised to even the level of a bearded jax (its a little kitty cat for crying out loud).
Adam,
I don't want just Probots adjusted. That kind of thinking is entirely too narrow. This will mean that only Masters (and those that can make Probots) will have any chance for sales.
I think that adding combat abilities (i.e. "/bitefoot", "/ramintoyou", etc.) attack commands should be added to MSE. Voila! Novices now have a combat market!
