Thread: Droids should be World Persistent

I think that from the moment a droid is created, until the moment it is destroyed, it should be world-persistent. it shouldn't sit inside of a datapad. If your droid is 2 kilometers away, and you need him, then you should either use the comm-link and radio him to come to you, (via /tell), or you should have to go and get him yourself. Perhaps he could be stored near a shuttleport for transport only.

This whole idea that pets and droids can be any place other than the game world totally bothers me.

What you say does have merit, it is a little unrealistic that you can be out in the middle of nowhere pulling droids out of your hat. But if the droids (and creatures) were persistent, that would either mean that you can have multiple droids (pets) out at one time, or that you can only have one droid (pet). Perhaps a more elegant solution would be tostore droids in some real world object instead of your datapad. Each city could have a droid storage facility where you can drop off or pick up your droid (and some kind of creaturekennel for the creatures), and when you want to pick up your droid (pet) you would have to do it at the same place you dropped him off.

Alternativally, you could pay a shipping charge if you want to have your droid (pet) shipped from one facility to another. Also It would make sense if you could have a house item (lets call it a "droid chargeing station" or "creature cage") in your house to allow droid (pet) storage in your home.

Lastly, if you die or log, the droid (pets) you had out when you would auto store, but also auto call when you return to the game. In essence they just wait (or sleep, or camp or whatever you are supposed to be doing when logged out) with you and are there with you when you return.

Hello!

A couple of things:

1) So what if we have 5 droids out, as long as we can only give commands to one or two at a time (if we want to limit outselves in this way)?

2) Droids don't disappear now when you log-out, so why would they need to disappear?

3) I don't have a problem with the deed system, incidentally, since a deed is simplya record of ownership. When people trade houses, or cars, they trade deeds. However, I think the deed should refer to the droid, and when you purchase a deed, you should have to go get the droid.
