Well I am thinking about going DE should I or should I do something else. I have looked into lots of other professions and this one so far has the least amount of people complaining about it that I can see. So please give me your advice. Thanks

Whats the point, most of the guys who complain alot long since left this profession. You can't heal droids, you have a helluva hard time selling them, and the grinding will drive you insane.

Only make a droid engineer if you like making droids like me. =)

We'll be fixed someday tho.

Not if you are on Scylla and especially not if you are on Naboo on Scylla, you'll be taking my business away!!!

Only if you enjoy crafting because otherwise it will be a hastle to you.

I find making/selling droids extremely fun. It seems, however, that about the only people who buy droids are bounty hunters, but its a good living from them I am not sure, perhaps many artisans dont understand that I can basically make them a mobile crafting station. I have one i use myself - his name is Crafty

It is alot of fun tho, seriously ... this is the best time i've ever had crafting in any MMoRPG. In fact, its the only time i've been able to stomach crafting enough to persue it in any MMoRPG

Enjoy DE, you'll be glad you tried it!

It just depends on why you want to craft droids. If it is for the money, then no don't become a DE. If it is for the joy of crafting droids then join us.

I like it a lot, but dont go into it hoping to be a overnight millionare, I play because I like making driods and also for hopes of a brighter future. Plus In college I only got my associates in Engineering befor I dropped the major and that took 2 years. On Bloodfin I was a master driod engineer in 2 months, and it was a lot cheaper.

A droid engineer's life is not an easy one but it is not without reward. Once you have a decent customer base you can start making some good money. Our products are not as self-explanatory as the other artisan professions.

You sell a house-- its a house, it holds stuff.
You sell a gun -- it is used to shoot stuff.
You sell a droid-- what can this thing do?

Most people dont know what droids can do, or have a belief of things they are able to do but really cant. So i spend a lot of time talking to people.

If you love droids then come and join us, if you love crafting and running to harvestors and spending more time with actual people than NPC's nad quests, then come join us.

If you come to wanderhome, I heard there is a great spot out in the Aguilash swamp on corellia that they need a DE.

Sure..why not I had alot of fun even with it being bugged and half complete. It can only get better. My thought is, it is way better to start a DE career now than it was at launch. By the time to get to Master, there will be some good changes I am guessing. For many of use who started it at launch, it has lost its luster and we are moving on, but we still crave the changes that you will get to experience.

I want to love DE. I want to enjoy being a DE. I am praying that DE is fixed. As is, if I had it to do over again I'd wait and make a DE in the distant future when and if DE is fixed.

As things stand:

1. DE is a LOT of grinding. That's fine as I don't mind a challenge. It also keeps those who are less dedicated out. We don't want the galaxy overrun with DE's. It's hard enough to sell droids as it is.

2. Which brings me to the fact that there is little market for droids. Crafting stations are handy, but most people don't bother. Item storage isn't terribly effective unless you have a LOT of droids with level 4 containers. Data storage is also not selling anymore since CE's have no use for data droids. Combat droids are far less effective than almost any pet and DZ-70's can be killed by one hit from a minor worrt. Medical droids are the only droids that really sell.

3. Droid UXP doesn't work.

There are other issues you can find here on this forum. I do believe that DE will be an enjoyable profession someday. But not today.

This is a Yes and No question.

No: If you want a (currently) working profession. Thisskill is HIGHLY nerfed right now, with almost no usefulness.

Yes: If you are willing to stick it out until the devs get DE fixed, and you love to build things with tinkertoys.

Icurrently am a DE, but I am holding off on really digging into it until they fix things. Thishas the potential to be the coolest profession in the game (starships, I'm looking at you). I will not give up my current skills, but I feel like I have almost no use for any of the current droids (other then healing wounds in public). The futures so bright, I gotta wear shades, but for nowit's gonna lay dormant for me.

thank you all for your input. I think I may give it a try. I am still trying to decide on De or architect. But I do not think I am going to start them for at least another mth or so.
