In the films i saw them only to wander

They have multiple purposes ... mobile sensors, mobile alarms ... that kind of thing. The Empire was using them for both of the above, and also to travel around space vehicles checking for damage .... they are basicaly a mobile scanning device

They'd make a great little survey droid I think.

What about using Mouse droids to patrol the area of your harvesters to check their maintenance and power reserves? They could send the owner a message when either got low so you would know you had to run out to them. Not suggesting they should pay the maintenance for you or that they should deposit your power or even retrieve from their hoppers, they are just too small for that. But it would be nice to have some kind of use for them.

Actually they would not make very good droids for roaming around checking harvester. With their little wheels I don't think they should do very well off road.

As a side note, according to the Databank, Dark Troopers are also droids. I want to make those.

Mine has a couple of storage modules, so basically I use Tiny as self propelled luggage

I got the impression that the "decontamination droids" described in one of the Zahn books were specialized MSE droids. But I could be wrong.

The mouse droids in StarWars are Cleaners and repairers. Simply said as that. They clean up the place with brooms underneath i guess and they can repair things if im not mistaken. Aside from making the highly annoying (i rather like the sound though) beeping noise thats about it. Doo doo do do. DOO doo DODO
