Thread: DE's why the profession?

I'm just starting the profession at the moment and as far as the grind is concerned it seems easier than Armoursmiths grind. I'm not grinding it because of a holocron either I just recognise that no-one wants droids made by an utter novice. As I'm still new to DE I haven't come across any problems (yet), So if you have any advice for me that would be appreciated.

I took Novice DE yesterday and 1 hour later I got a tell asking to build a droid, In the past 24 hours I've been asked by 6 people to craft items for them. Thats just from wearing the NDE badge below my name so from what I can see it aint all that bad.

Plus isn't there a big Droid patch coming up soon so the devs are on to it I assume.

holocron grinding sux imo. Why go through the pain of clicking a mouse button 2 million times and reaching master then 5 minutes later dropping it and being back at square one, and for what? the little glimmer of hope that they be given a new char to start on the path towards jedi.

BIG DEAL!!!

Hahah, why this profession? Um..I forget. To that bright eyed noob right above me, sorry bud, not only does nobody want droids from a novice, they flat out don't want droids. Hope you ain't thinking you'll make money on this one, and about the big droid patch..

I bought my 2nd account so that I could play as a DE.

Whether or not that was "dumb" is up to each and every individual reader.

Are there any "Non-Holocron" DEs left? why did SOE bother with this profession when they vomit on us every time our name is mentioned?

Maybe DE's should just be eliminated as a profession all together. Obviously we mean squirt to SOE. Whats the point? Realy.... why are DEs even part of Star Wars (laugh) Galaxies"?

DE has been my goal since way before beta even started, I got to play it when it was REALLY rough in beta, and now - I dunno! My character has always been a Droid Engineer, I don't know too many other droid engineers who are as active as I am on Chilastra, Talus whereabouts, and I just still cling to the hope that we'll continue to get more and more additions as this virtual universe continues to grow and expand.

Now, I'm not a total DE fan - I'm also a Master Artisan, and working my way toward Infiltrator (Master Carbine Counterinsurgency Tactics), not to mention Novice Merchant. Combine that with my PA keeping me busy with other things and limited playing time, and it works well for me

I just became a Master DE 3 days ago. And not because of a holocron grind. I became a DE mainly to prepare for the upcoming publish hoping to cash in on the skill there and then eventually drop it. Also my guild doesnt have a DE so I took it upon msyelf to do it. In 3 days i have had 4 orders for droids and made ok money. The only thing that upsets me right now as a droid engineer is the non-existance of the ore that is used to make lvl 6 storage modules. I had to buy them for 6k apiece from another DE who had stocked up on them awhile back. As of right now, im pumping out crates of droid parts and pre building a stock of droid chassis. If it doesnt work out then oh well, i just exanded my knowledge of SWG.
